Terrainer

v1.0.8·Updated 2026-08-21

Adds hoe modes to level terrain to an exact world height (Q/E), round or rotatable square area, adjustable radius, optional stone cost.

About this mod Author’s original text

Terrainer

Adds two new modes to the Hoe: pick an exact world height with the keyboard and level terrain in the selected area to it — like a "terrain leveler" from creative tools, but using the vanilla hoe mechanics.

Works in multiplayer with the mod installed only on the client. Terrain changes sync through the vanilla terrain system, so other players (and the server) don't need the mod.

How to use

  • Take the Hoe and open the build menu (RMB).
  • Select "Выровнять по высоте" (round area) or "Выровнять по высоте (квадрат)" (square area, rotatable).
  • Q / E — raise / lower the target height (hold to repeat, Ctrl for large steps). The ghost shows the exact plane.
  • Shift + mouse wheel — change the radius of the area (Ctrl for large steps).
  • Mouse wheel — rotate the square mode area.
  • LMB — level the terrain up to the chosen height.
  • R — reset the height to the ground level under your feet.

A label near the crosshair always shows the current height and radius.

Optional: stone cost for raising terrain

By default leveling is free like the vanilla hoe. Enable ConsumeRocks in the config to make raising terrain cost stone proportional to the volume of added ground (RocksPerCubicMeter, default 0.15 stone per m³). Lowering terrain is always free.

Configuration (BepInEx/config/Terrainer.cfg)

| Setting | Default | Description |

|---|---|---|

| Radius | 4 | Initial leveling radius (change in-game with Shift+wheel) |

| HeightStep | 0.25 | Height change per Q/E step |

| HeightStepLarge | 2 | Height change per Q/E step while holding Ctrl |

| RadiusStep | 0.5 | Radius change per Shift+wheel step |

| ConsumeRocks | false | Require stone for raising terrain |

| RocksPerCubicMeter | 0.15 | Stone per m³ of added ground |

Notes

  • Stamina cost and hoe durability work exactly like the vanilla hoe modes.
  • Client-side only; no dependencies besides BepInEx.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
