Description
TamedTransport adds reusable cages for transporting boars, wolves, and lox. Capture tamed offspring by default, carry them in your inventory, and release them through the hammer's build menu. In multiplayer, the server controls capture permissions, portal access, and cage definitions, synchronizes settings and icons, and validates capture and placement requests.
Overview
| Feature | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Wooden Animal Cage | Holds a piglet, or an adult boar when enabled. Requires a level 3 workbench. |
| Reinforced Animal Cage | Holds a wolf cub, or an adult wolf when enabled. Requires a level 3 forge. |
| Heavy Animal Cage | Holds a lox calf, or an adult lox when enabled. Requires a level 5 forge. |
| Pick up animals | Carry the matching empty cage, look at an eligible animal, and press Y. Hover text shows the configured key. |
| Saved animal state | Preserves the animal's form, name, stars, health, and tame state. Growth and taming progress pause while caged. |
| Cage contents | The tooltip shows the animal's name and star quality under Currently holding:. |
| Reusable cages | Capture replaces the empty cage with its loaded version; release restores it. Loaded items skip discovery popups. |
| Place animal | Equip a hammer and select Place animal under Misc while carrying exactly one loaded cage. |
| Placement preview | Transparent green/red feedback follows workbench restrictions. Water, dungeons, ward restrictions, and no-build areas block placement. |
| Safe placement input | Blocks attacks from the placement click until released. Movement remains available. |
| Multiple loaded cages | Hides the placement entry and shows a message until only one loaded cage remains. Empty cages do not count. |
| Optional capture rules | Separate options allow adults and untamed animals. Both are off by default; capturing does not tame an animal. |
| Portal access | Empty cages can teleport. Loaded cages use native stone portals; ordinary portal access is optional. |
| Editable cages | YAML controls names, descriptions, models, recipes, station levels, and empty/loaded weights. |
| Custom icons | Separate PNGs for all six cages and the placement entry. Missing icons use Wood. |
| Live updates | Valid config, YAML, and icon edits reload automatically. Invalid YAML/icon edits retain the last valid settings. |
| Interrupted transfers | Pending requests retry when the cage returns to inventory. Pending captures recover in their original world. |
| Saves and achievements | Uses normal Valheim saves and leaves achievement eligibility and achievement-enabling mods untouched. |
| Multiplayer | Matching versions on clients and server, authoritative validation, synchronized settings, and cached transfers reduce repeated network work. |
Configuration and values
Start the game or server once to generate BepInEx/config/dannanboi.tamedtransport.cfg, BepInEx/config/TamedTransport/cages.yaml, and BepInEx/config/TamedTransport/icons.
In multiplayer, edit the server/host's Settings, YAML, and icons. Keybindings and UI text remain local. Existing configuration is preserved on upgrade; examples are included in the package. Only empty cages are craftable. Cage values below follow Wooden / Reinforced / Heavy order.
| Section / option | Default | Meaning |

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
