SurtlingFuel ItemHopper Fix
Lets ItemHopper feed Surtling Cores, Black Cores and configured core-like
items into vanilla smelters and blast furnaces, using SurtlingFuel's fuel
amount and speed boost.
What it does
- Keeps coal and core fuel separate: one waits until the other is spent.
- Leaves items in the source when the machine is full or rejects the fuel locally.
- Restricts core fuel to smelter and blastfurnace; Eitr Refineries and other
machines do not receive core fuel or its speed boost.
- Repairs SurtlingFuel 1.4.0's older Valheim API calls.
- Protects honey and dropped-item transfers when insertion or pickup fails.
- Preserves item provenance when a dropped item merges into an existing stack.
Version 1.2.2 fixes that last case. A successful pickup of an item marked as
cheated now keeps that flag on the receiving stack. A refused pickup leaves the
destination's previous count and flag unchanged.
Install
Install this package and all dependencies on the server and every client, Mod Manager or r2modman. For a downloaded ZIP, use
Import local mod. Everyone must use the same add-on version, then restart.
For manual installation, put SurtlingFuelItemHopperFix.dll in
BepInEx/plugins/SurtlingFuelItemHopperFix/ and install dependencies separately.
Current dependency baseline
| Dependency | Version |
|---|---|
| Valheim | 1.0.16 |
| BepInExPack Valheim | 5.4.2351 |
| Jötunn | 2.30.2 |
| ItemHopper | 2.0.2 |
| SurtlingFuel | 1.4.0 |
| MultiUserChest, required by ItemHopper | 0.6.2 |
Keep both ItemHopper and SurtlingFuel installed. This package is their compatibility
add-on and contains neither dependency.
Settings
After the first launch, edit
BepInEx/config/local.valheim.surtlingfuelitemhopperfix.cfg:
| Setting | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel / Additional Fuel Prefabs | BlackCore | Extra internal item prefab names accepted as core fuel by hoppers. |
Separate names with commas, semicolons or new lines. SurtlingCore is always
enabled; Coal is excluded from this list. The list is synced from the server
and controlled by its admins.
Every listed extra item receives the same fuel value and speed boost as a
Surtling Core. Remove BlackCore from the list if hoppers should not consume
Black Cores. This setting does not add manual Black Core fueling.
SurtlingFuel's own fuel-per-core and speed settings remain in its config.
Keep those values identical on the server and clients; SurtlingFuel 1.4.0 does
not synchronize them itself.
Limits and removal
Fuel and ore delivery retain ItemHopper's remove-then-RPC network protocol.
This release does not add transaction acknowledgements; simultaneous remote
transfers or disconnects during delivery are not guaranteed by the local-owner
checks. Other mods that replace these same methods may conflict.
Removing this package restores upstream behavior and removes these compatibility
guards. It adds no items or recipes. Existing fuel stored by SurtlingFuel remains
part of that mod's state.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
