Surtling Companion
Craft the Surtling Raiser at the forge and summon your own tamed Surtling. It follows you, fights with its normal fire attacks, and lights up the dark like a wild Surtling.
Features
- Surtling Raiser – a staff crafted and upgraded at the forge. Equip it and attack to summon.
- Starred summons – the staff's upgrade level decides the Surtling's stars.
- One companion at a time – summoning again replaces your current Surtling.
- Tame behavior – press E to pet it and toggle follow/stay, Shift+E to rename it. Every summon starts out named Surtur.
- Costs 50 stamina plus a health sacrifice per summon, like the Dead Raiser (no eitr needed). Both costs shrink as your Blood Magic skill rises, and summoning trains Blood Magic.
- Drops 1 Surtling Core and 1 Coal when it dies.
- Unsummons if you move too far away or log out.
Recipes (Forge)
| Level | Cost | Summons |
|---|---|---|
| Craft | 5 Surtling Core, 1 Wisp | Surtling (no star) |
| Upgrade 2 | 7 Surtling Core, 2 Wisp | 1-star Surtling |
| Upgrade 3 | 10 Surtling Core, 3 Wisp | 2-star Surtling |
Multiplayer
The mod is client-side, so servers don't need it. Everyone near your Surtling should have it installed, though: the game can hand control of a creature to a nearby player, and a player without the mod can't run it.
Configuration
BepInEx/config/lamento87.SurtlingCompanion.cfg lets you adjust where the Surtling trophy sits in your hand (offset, rotation, scale). Restart the game after changing it.
Source and issues
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
