Charcoal Kilns now have a chance to yield Resin alongside Charcoal. Deep North Ready!
About this mod Author’s original text
Sticky Kiln
Charcoal Kilns now drop a bonus Resin alongside their Charcoal.
Every time a Charcoal Kiln finishes a batch of wood, there is a 25% chance it
also spits out 1 Resin right at the kiln's output.
Requirements
- Valheim: Deep North
- BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2350 (or newer 5.x)
- Single player, or on any server where you (and any clients who want the
byproduct to appear for them) have the mod installed
Install
- Mod Manager: copy StickyKiln-1.0.0.zip and choose
Install from local file / drag-and-drop it into the mod manager, then enable
it for your profile.
- Manual: extract plugins/StickyKiln/StickyKiln.dll into
BepInEx/plugins/StickyKiln/ next to your game, then start Valheim.
Configuration
On first launch a config file is generated at
BepInEx/config/wayfarers.stickykiln.cfg:
| Setting | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- |
| General ResinChance | 0.25 | Chance (0-1) that a Charcoal Kiln run yields extra Resin. |
| General ResinAmount | 1 | How much Resin is dropped when the chance hits. |
Requires a restart of the game to take effect.
How it works
The Charcoal Kiln is a vanilla Smelter. Sticky Kiln patches
Smelter.Spawn(string ore, int stack). When the ore is Wood (only the
Charcoal Kiln converts Wood), it rolls the chance and, if successful, spawns the
vanilla Resin prefab at the kiln's output point using the same code path as
vanilla charcoal (including the ItemDrop.OnCreateNew / cheat-check logic).
The roll happens once per finished batch, not per individual piece of charcoal.
Data safety
Adds no new items, prefabs, or world data. If you remove the mod, existing
worlds and kilns are completely unaffected.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
