SpeedyBoi
Sneak faster as your Sneak skill goes up. One config option to set the max speed multiplier.
About this mod Author’s original text
SpeedyBoi
You spent a hundred hours crouch-walking behind boars to grind Sneak. The least
the game could do is let you crouch-walk faster for your trouble.
SpeedyBoi scales your sneaking speed with your Sneak skill level. The higher
your skill, the quicker you creep — no more shuffling along at the exact same
snail's pace whether you're a fresh spawn or a shadow-footed murder-viking.
What it does
- Crouch/sneak movement speed scales linearly with your Sneak skill, from
normal speed at 0 skill up to a configurable max at 100 skill.
- Everything else about sneaking (stealth detection, stamina drain, skill
gain) is untouched. This mod only touches speed.
- Does not affect jumping, running, or normal walking.
Config
Find this in BepInEx/config/saltgaming.valheim.speedyboi.cfg, or edit it
live with Configuration Manager if you have it installed.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| MaxSpeedMultiplier | 1.6 | Crouch speed multiplier at 100 Sneak skill. 1.0 = no bonus, 2.0 = double speed. |
Compatibility notes
- Single-player and servers, but not server-enforced. The config value is
read locally per client. On a dedicated server, each player's own config
controls their own multiplier. That means a player could edit their local
config for a personal speed advantage on someone else's server. Keep that
in mind if you're running one for a playerbase.
- Should be compatible with anything that doesn't also patch
Character.UpdateWalking or directly write to m_crouchSpeed. If you're
using another sneak-speed or movement-speed mod, expect them to fight over
the same value.
Why this exists
There used to be a mod that did this. It broke on the 1.0 update and, as far
as I could tell, hadn't been patched for it. So here's a clean-room version,
built directly against the current Character.cs/Player.cs, that does the
one thing and does it without touching your ability to jump.

Do whatever you want with this. If it breaks something, open an issue with
your LogOutput.log — "it doesn't work" with no log is not a bug report,
it's a haiku.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
