About this mod Author’s original text
Socialize
Adds player groups for adventures and expeditions, private messaging, map sharing, and a dedicated group chat channel.
Groups are not persistent: players leave them when they disconnect and do not rejoin automatically when they return.
Valheim compatibility
Current release: 1.0.x
Features
Groups
- Lets up to five connected players form a group for their current session.
- Gives group leaders invite, remove, and leadership transfer controls.
- Shows group invitations through Valheim's Yes/No popup.
- Automatically promotes the longest-standing remaining member when the group leader leaves.
- Disbands a group when fewer than two members remain connected.
- Removes disconnected players from their group and does not restore groups after reconnection or a server restart.
Chat
- Removes the public server-wide chat channel: normal chat reaches nearby players, while shouts travel farther within server-defined ranges.
- Adds private group chat for connected group members.
- Adds world-wide private messages and optional animated pings for a chosen player.
- Confirms private messages, targeted pings, group messages, and invitations only after delivery.
- Applies platform text permissions and filtering before displaying custom messages.
- Keeps the selected normal, shout, group, or private chat channel active for following messages.
- Keeps private messages inside the chat window instead of displaying them above the character.
Map privacy
- Keeps player positions private outside groups.
- Shares connected group members' positions automatically every two seconds.
- Shares map pings only with group members and disables them outside groups.
Notifications
- Replaces the local arrival shout with a server-wide localized arrival announcement, and announces when members leave, are removed, become leader, or cause a group to disband.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
