New skill improving combat with two-handed weapons

About this mod Author’s original text

This mod aims to rebalance two handed weapons, putting them in the same ballpark as one handed weapons combined with a parrying shield.

In Vanilla the swings are slow, eat a lot of stamina, and don't really hit as hard as expected from a purely offensive stance.

Features

  • Adds a skill called Slayer
  • Each level of the skill raises two handed weapon damage by 0,25%. 25% increase at level 100.
  • Each level of the skill lowers the pushback distance on being hit while attacking by 2%. Complete pushback immunity at level 50.
  • Each level of the skill raises the stagger damage of twohanded weapons. By 50% at level 100 by default.
  • All values can be configured and all features can be toggled on and off separately in the config file.

Installation

Use a mod manager, or drop the "plugins" folder from the zip into your Bepinex folder.

Compatibility

Compatible with EpicLoot. Not sure about other mods affecting weapon damage.

Special Thanks

  • Thanks to EpicLoot authors, their mod helped with coding my own.
  • Thanks to the Jotunn and JotunnModStub creators, they made it very simple to get into Valheim modding.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
