SkillEXPBoost
SkillEXPBoost is a client-side Valheim BepInEx mod by Rollstuhltreter. It
lets you adjust skill XP gain with separate multipliers for combat, normal, and
farm/gathering skills. Blood Magic gains are handled through the same skill
path as other XP gains, including direct shield-effect gains. An optional
top-left display combines repeated XP gains and shows the current progress
toward the next level.
Features
- Enable or disable the mod at runtime.
- Separate XP multipliers for three skill categories.
- Optional compact top-left XP and level-progress display. Repeated gains for the same skill are combined, and the display does not use Valheim's loot-notification queue.
- Client-side implementation with no server plugin, server config, or custom
network messages.
- Unknown skill types are left unchanged.
Installation
Install the package with a Valheim -compatible mod manager, or copy
plugins/SkillEXPBoost.dll to:
/BepInEx/plugins/
On the first load, BepInEx creates the configuration file:
/BepInEx/config/kann.valheim.skillmultiplier.cfg
The existing configuration GUID is kept so previous settings remain usable.
Configuration
[General]
Enable = true
[Multipliers]
CombatSkillsMultiplier = 2
NormalSkillsMultiplier = 2
FarmSkillsMultiplier = 2
[Display]
ShowSkillProgress = false
SkillProgressAggregationWindow = 0.75
SkillProgressDuration = 1.25
All values can be changed with BepInEx Configuration Manager while the game is
running.
Skill categories
Combat: Swords, Knives, Clubs, Polearms, Spears, Blocking, Axes, Bows,
Crossbows, Unarmed, ElementalMagic, and BloodMagic.
Normal: Jump, Sneak, Run, Swim, Dodge, Ride, Cooking, and Crafting.
Farm/gathering: Pickaxes, WoodCutting, Fishing, and Farming.
Set ShowSkillProgress = true to enable the custom top-left display. It shows
the skill, combined XP gained, current level, and the percentage toward the
next level. SkillProgressAggregationWindow controls how long repeated gains
are combined; SkillProgressDuration controls how long the result remains
visible.
Multiplayer note
The plugin only changes skill gain for the local player and does not install
anything on a server. Community-server rules still apply; do not use gameplay
mods on servers where they are prohibited.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
