\# ServerEmptyStopSave
Stops your dedicated server from saving when nobody is online, and lets you hide or customize the annoying "World saved" message spam.
Vanilla Valheim keeps saving on a timer even when the server is totally empty, which quickly overwrites all your backup slots with useless saves. If you run a short save interval (like every 3 minutes), it also constantly spams "World saved" across everyone's screen while they're trying to play. This mod fixes both.
\### What it does
\* Stops autosaves and automated backups when 0 players are online
\* Does one final save right after the last player logs off so you never lose progress
\* Starts saving normally again as soon as someone joins
\ \\New in 1.1.0:\\* Lets you filter or mute the "World saved" on-screen popups (silence the 3-minute fast saves, only show actual backups, or turn them off completely)
\* 100% server-side so your friends don't need to install anything
\### Install
Drop 'ServerEmptyStopSave.dll' into your server's 'BepInEx/plugins' folder and you're good to go.
\### Config
A config file is generated automatically at 'BepInEx/config/pico.serveremptystopsave.cfg' the first time you run it.
Everything defaults to 'false' so it won't change your notifications until you want it to.
\ \\General\\*
\* 'EnableLogging' (Default: 'true') — Set to 'false' if you want a quiet console.
\ \\Notifications\\*
\* 'HideFastSaveMessage' (Default: 'false') — Set to 'true' to stop the frequent 3-minute autosave popups.
\* 'LogBlockedMessages' (Default: 'true') — Prints a console entry whenever a save message is suppressed.
\* 'ShowShortBackupMessage' (Default: 'false') — Set to 'true' if you want an on-screen notice when a short backup triggers.
\* 'ShowLongBackupMessage' (Default: 'false') — Set to 'true' if you want an on-screen notice when a long backup triggers.
\* 'ShowManualSaveMessage' (Default: 'true') — Keeps alerts visible when someone runs '/save' or during shutdown.
\* 'MuteAllSaveMessages' (Default: 'false') — Master mute switch for all save popups.
\ \\Timers\\*
\* 'ShortBackupIntervalSeconds' (Default: '900') — Match this to your '-backupshort' server argument.
\* 'LongBackupIntervalSeconds' (Default: '7200') — Match this to your '-backuplong' server argument.
\ \\Messages\\*
\* Customize what text shows on screen for each save type (or make it just '.' to keep it tiny).
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
