About this mod Author’s original text
SeedSeer
A tiny utility that reveals the world seed of any Valheim world — client-side, with an optional dedicated server mode.
SeedSeer answers one question every Valheim player and server admin eventually faces: "What seed is this world running?" Install it on your game client and you'll see the seed of any world you join — including dedicated servers you don't control — because every Valheim client receives the world seed to generate terrain locally. Optionally install it on your dedicated server too, and your players can request the seed in chat with /seed.
🌟 Features
🌱 Client-Side Seed Reveal (Works on Any Server)
- Spawn Message: The first time your character spawns into a world, the seed appears as an in-game message (e.g., [SeedSeer] World seed: "MyWorldSeed" (hash: -123456789)). Toggle with ShowOnSpawn in config.
- seed Console Command: Type seed in the F5 console at any time to print the current world's seed to the console and HUD.
- Dedicated Server Friendly: Connecting to a dedicated server? Valheim sends the server's world seed to every client — SeedSeer displays it, even if the server runs no mods at all.
- Log Output: The seed is also written to BepInEx/LogOutput.log on every world load.
🖥️ Optional Dedicated Server Mode
- Server Console & Log: When installed on a dedicated server, the seed is printed via ZLog to the server console and LogOutput.log at world load.
- /seed Chat Command: Any player can type /seed (or!seed) in chat and receive the world seed back as a private whisper — no console access needed.
- Optional Admin-Only Restriction: Set AdminOnlyCommand = true in config to limit /seed replies to players in adminlist.txt (default: off, everyone can request).
- -seed Launch Argument Verification: If the server is started with a -seed argument, its value is logged at plugin load so you can confirm the server received the seed you intended.
- Audited: Every /seed reply is recorded in the server log with the requesting player's name.
⚙️ Configuration
All settings live in BepInEx/config/com.jubaroo.seedseer.cfg:
- ShowOnSpawn (Default: true) — Client-side: show the world seed as an in-game message on first spawn into a world.
- AdminOnlyCommand (Default: false) — Server-side: restrict /seed chat command replies to players listed in adminlist.txt.

🌐 Compatibility & Multiplayer
- No Server Required: The client-side reveal works on vanilla and modded dedicated servers alike — the server does not need SeedSeer installed.
- No Client Required: If you only install it on your dedicated server, players need nothing; they can still request the seed via /seed chat.
- Gameplay Safe: Purely informational — does not alter gameplay, world generation, or network traffic.
- No Dependencies: Requires nothing beyond BepInEx.

- Works standalone on the client, on the dedicated server, or both.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
