ScrollHotbar
ScrollHotbar is a simple quality-of-life mod for Valheim that lets you cycle through your hotbar items using the mouse wheel. It also intelligently handles camera zooming — scroll the wheel freely to swap items, or hold Left Ctrl to adjust the zoom instead.
🧰 Features
- ✅ Scroll the mouse wheel to cycle through hotbar slots (1–8).
- ✅ Hotbar selection wraps around — no getting stuck at the end.
- ✅ Slots are switched even if they are empty (so you can prep items).
- ✅ Hold Left Ctrl to zoom the camera in/out, just like the default Valheim behavior.
- ✅ When Ctrl is not held, zoom stays fixed and is not affected by scrolling.
- ✅ Scroll position is preserved between switches — no unexpected zoom resets.
🎮 How It Works
- Scrolling up selects the next hotbar slot.
- Scrolling down selects the previous one.
- If Left Ctrl is held, the scroll wheel is redirected to control camera zoom.
- Zoom levels persist until manually changed.
- Scrolling through empty slots is allowed so that you can still prepare them.
📦 Installation
- Install BepInExPack (required to load mods):
- Recommended: Use a mod manager like r2modman or Mod Manager.
- Manual: Download BepInExPack for Valheim, unzip it into your game directory.
- Download ScrollHotbar:
- (when published).
- Or Download from GitHub Releases.
- Install the mod:
- If using r2modman: Add the mod to your profile.
- Manually: Place the.dll file into the BepInEx/plugins/ folder.
- Launch Valheim and enjoy scrolling your hotbar!
🧪 Compatibility
- Compatible with most UI and gameplay mods.
- Tested with Valheim v0.217.x and BepInEx 5.4.2202.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
