SandboxTools
Sandbox cheat commands for testing and play - unlock recipes, set skills, export live items and recipes to CSV.
About this mod Author’s original text
SandboxTools
A command set for modders, build testers, and anyone who just wants to play in sandbox mode.
It covers two jobs:
- Set up a test character - unlock materials, stations, and recipes, and set skill levels so you can craft, build, and fight without grinding.
- Data mine the live game - export whatever Valheim currently has loaded (vanilla + mods) to CSV for balance checks, recipe audits, and spreadsheets.
Pair it with Server Devcommands for the wider admin / cheat console toolset (god, fly, spawn, and the rest).
Install
- Open r2modman Mod Manager - Valheim.
- Online - search DevDonkey-SandboxTools - Install (needs BepInExPack_Valheim).
- Launch the game through the mod manager.
- Enable the cheat console (devcommands) and type sandbox for the command list.
Or manually: put SandboxTools.dll in BepInEx/plugins.
Commands
All commands start with sandbox. Type sandbox alone for a short reminder.
Test character
| Command | What it does |
|---------|----------------|
| sandbox discover all | Discovers every material and crafting station so recipes and build pieces unlock. |
| sandbox discover materials | Discovers materials only. |
| sandbox discover stations | Discovers crafting stations only. |
| sandbox discover recipes | Unlocks every crafting recipe. |
| sandbox skills | Sets every skill to 100. |
| sandbox skills 50 | Sets every skill to a custom level. |
Data mining
| Command | What it does |
|---------|----------------|
| sandbox export | Writes all CSV files under BepInEx/exports. |
| sandbox export items | Writes items.csv plus the filtered item CSVs. |
| sandbox export recipes | Writes recipes.csv only. |
Tab completes the group and the next argument.
A full export also runs once automatically after the game finishes loading items and recipes for the session.
Export files
Exports land here:
BepInEx/exports/
For r2modman that is usually:
%APPDATA%\r2modmanPlus-local\Valheim\profiles\\BepInEx\exports\
| File | Contents |
|------|----------|
| items.csv | Every item currently loaded (name, type, weight, food/armor/damage stats, flags, whether it has a recipe) |
| recipes.csv | Every crafting recipe, including station, min level, amount produced, and each material + amount |
| foods.csv | Foods only (same columns as items.csv, sorted by food value) |
| weapons.csv | Weapons only |
| armor.csv | Armour only |
| materials.csv | Materials only |
ItemName is the localized display name; InternalName is the prefab id (what spawn commands use). Biome is a best-effort guess from names/stations/materials - treat unknowns as Unknown, not gospel.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
