Runic Utilities v1.0.0

Runic Utilities adds progression-friendly utility magic to Valheim before Mistlands. Each biome unlocks a small Eitr food and a set of reusable rune tools for exploration, gathering, building, travel and storage rather than combat.

Requirements

  • Valheim 1.0.15
  • BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2350
  • Jotunn 2.30.1
  • All multiplayer clients and the server should run the mod.

Eitr progression

Runic foods are intentionally small utility foods. Only one Runic Utilities food is intended to be active at a time, and each biome's food provides enough Eitr for one matching-tier cast.

| Biome | Food | Eitr |

| --- | --- | ---: |

| Meadows | Runic Berry Mash | 5 |

| Black Forest | Enchanted Blueberry Stew | 10 |

| Swamp | Runic Turnip Stew | 15 |

| Mountains | Frost-Eitr Cream | 20 |

| Plains | Runic Cloudberry Pudding | 25 |

Runes

Meadows — 5 Eitr

  • Rune of Foraging — Gatherer's Sight: reveals nearby wild forageables.
  • Rune of Fleetfoot — Fleetfoot: +50% movement speed with reduced running stamina use for 60 seconds.

Black Forest — 10 Eitr

  • Rune of Seeking — Miner's Sight: reveals nearby mineable ore deposits.
  • Stonebreaker Rune — Rocksplosion: damages natural rocks and ore using the best usable pickaxe in your inventory without consuming its durability.
  • Spectral Hatchet — Spectral Axe: applies chopping power using the best usable axe in your inventory.

Swamp — 15 Eitr

  • Rune of Reaping — Harvest Wind: harvests mature nearby crops without replanting them.
  • Rune of Mending — Runic Repair: repairs a damaged equipped item first, otherwise a damaged durable item.
  • Rune of Restoration — Runic Restoration: fully repairs damaged player-built structures within 18 metres.
  • Timber Rune — Timberburst: breaks down nearby felled logs using the best usable axe tier in your inventory.

Mountains — 20 Eitr

  • Rune of the Gale — Windstep: higher jumps, slower falling and no fall damage for 30 seconds.
  • Rune of Warmth — Warding Flame: clears and prevents Cold and Freezing for 3 minutes.
  • Rune of Frostpath — Frostwalker: for 40 seconds, temporary Deep North ice forms at the water surface beneath and ahead of you. Individual ice pieces dissolve shortly afterwards.
  • Rune of Shelter — Runic Shelter: conjures a temporary open A-frame spectral shelter with a sleepable bed at its centre. The bed does not change your spawn point, and the shelter crumbles without resource drops when you leave.

Plains — 25 Eitr

  • Rune of the Forge — Forgefire: doubles the processing speed of nearby compatible smelter-type stations for 60 seconds.
  • Rune of Homecoming — Hearth Recall: returns you to your claimed bed/spawn location; non-teleportable items block recall.
  • Raven's Eye Rune — Raven's Eye: free-fly scouting for up to 60 seconds within 80 metres while your body remains behind.
  • Astral Cache Rune — Astral Cache: opens a persistent personal 20-slot magical storage cache saved with the character.
  • Rune of Sorting — Runic Sorting: deposits matching items from your inventory into nearby accessible storage chests that already contain those item types.

Failed spells do not consume Eitr.

Totems

Five buildable Ward-style utility totems are available from the Hammer's Misc category:

  • Fleetfoot Totem — Fleetfoot for 60 seconds.
  • Windstep Totem — Windstep for 30 seconds.
  • Warmth Totem — Warding Flame for 3 minutes.
  • Frostwalker Totem — Frostwalker for 40 seconds.
  • Sorting Totem — performs the same inventory-to-matching-chest deposit behaviour as Rune of Sorting.

These use the vanilla Ward visual language without creating a PrivateArea/protection field.

Important behaviour

  • Vanilla Mistlands combat magic is not modified.
  • Frostwalker ice and Runic Shelter geometry are temporary and are not intended to persist as world construction.
  • The Runic Shelter bed uses Valheim's normal sleep state and multiplayer sleep rules, but deliberately does not claim or set a spawn point.
  • Rune of Sorting only deposits items from the casting player's inv

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.

Install these first, or the mod will not work:
