Rocknet Valheim — QoL Modpack
The client-side mod set for the Rocknet Valheim server. Install this pack and
you can connect; the versions in it are pinned to exactly what the server runs.
You need all of it. Valheim refuses a connection when the client and server
mod sets disagree, and a version mismatch looks the same as the server being
down. Install the pack as a whole rather than picking mods out of it.
Installing
- Install r2modman or
Gale.
- Create a Valheim profile.
- Search for RocknetValheimQoL, install it, and launch Valheim from the
mod manager — not from Steam. Launching from Steam starts vanilla, which
then fails to connect.
When the pack updates
Your mod manager will show an update. Take it before your next session. The
server and this pack are bumped together, so an outdated client is refused at
connect.
What's in it
Quality-of-life and anti-tedium only — no content mods. Nothing here adds
biomes, magic, loot systems or progression changes; the game is still vanilla
Valheim, with less busywork.
- Less walking back and forth — CraftFromChests, MassFarming,
Venture Area Repair, ItemStacksItemWeights, ExtraSlots
- Fewer stalemates — JustSleep (no need for every player in a bed)
- Smaller irritations — RecipePinner, BetterSplitDialog, No Unlock Spam,
Venture Farm Grid, MyLittleUI
- Under the hood — ValheimCommunityPatch (community bugfixes), AsyncSave
(removes the world-save stutter), ConfigurationManager (F1 to tune settings),
Server devcommands
The remaining entries (Jotunn, YamlDotNet, JsonDotNET, ConditionalConfigSync)
are libraries the mods above depend on.
Ore through portals
Not a mod — the server runs with the portals casual world modifier, so ore
and metal go through portals. That is the single biggest change to how the
server plays.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
