RideableTames
Ride your tamed boars, wolves and deer. One simple leather saddle fits all three, and each animal can be switched
off in the config.
How to ride
- Craft the Saddle at a level 2 workbench: 5 leather scraps, 2 deer hides, 4 bronze nails.
- Look at a tamed boar, wolf or deer and use the saddle from your hotbar, the same way you saddle a lox.
- Aim at the saddle and press E to mount. The controls are the game's own riding: W walks, Shift gallops,
S stops, E or Jump gets you off. Shift+E on the saddle takes it off.
- The animal has its own stamina for galloping and swimming, shown on the mount panel next to its trophy. Your riding
skill grows as usual and makes the gallop up to 25% faster.
- An animal that dies drops its saddle. A saddle dropped on the ground stays there.
Deer cannot be tamed in the base game: that takes a taming mod such as
LetMeTameYou. Tamed deer from it can be saddled.
Settings
Rules, synced from the server (in each [Boar], [Wolf], [Deer] section and in [Saddle]):
| Setting | Boar | Wolf | Deer | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Enabled | true | true | true | false: the animal cannot be saddled or mounted; a saddle can still be taken off |
| WalkSpeed | 4 | 4.5 | 5 | m/s at a walk. On its own the animal ambles at 1.5; a player jogs at 4 |
| RunSpeed | 8.5 | 9.5 | 10 | m/s at a gallop, before the riding skill bonus. A player runs at 7 |
| Stamina | 100 | 150 | 150 | a gallop costs 2.5 a second, swimming 5 |
[Saddle]: Recipe (LeatherScraps:5,DeerHide:2,BronzeNails:4), Station (Workbench), StationLevel (2).
Looks, per player and applied on the fly when the config file is saved: SaddleOffset and RiderOffset (metres,
X right, Y up, Z forward) and RiderPose — one of the game's riding poses (attach_asksvin, attach_moose,
attach_lox).
Multiplayer
Install on the server and on every player; Jotunn makes sure everyone has the same minor version. The saddle is
handled by whoever owns the animal at the moment. With a server-side simulation mod (Dedicated Simulation and the like)
that is often the server itself, and when a player mounts, the game hands the animal over to the rider. Without such a
mod the owner is one of the players nearby. Both ways work.
Rideable Boars
Do not run it together with this mod: both put a saddle on the boar, so RideableTames does not load while Rideable
Boars is installed. After switching, its saddles in inventories, chests and on the ground become the RideableTames
saddle, and boars saddled with it keep a saddle. The command wheel of Rideable Boars is not part of this mod: tamed
animals follow and stay the vanilla way.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
