PvP Kill Feed
A lightweight, PvP-only kill feed for Valheim.
When a player kills another player, everyone sees a short line at the top of the HUD:
Killer ⚔ Victim
No PvE. No death history. No extra world data. Built for busy dedicated servers.
Features
- Player vs player only — falls, trees, mobs, and bosses never touch the network
- Crossed-swords icon with a faded bar behind each line
- Guilds colors — if Guilds is installed, names use that guild’s color picker RGB. Otherwise names stay white
- Tiny live RPC — names + colors, then gone. Join 5 seconds late and you will not see it
- Local HUD — size, position, and font are yours. The server does not overwrite them
- Optional hide — /disablekillfeed hides the UI on your screen only. Your kills still show for everyone else
Screenshots
Without Guilds — names render white.
With Guilds — names use each guild’s color.
Requirements
Valheim 1.0.16.
| Mod | Required |
|-----|----------|
| BepInExPack | Yes — 5.4.2351 |
| Jötunn | Yes — 2.30.2 |
| Guilds (Smoothbrain) | Optional — Guilds colored names when present |
Install on the dedicated server and every client. The server routes kills and does not draw the feed.
Installation
- Install with r2modman / Gale, or place PvPKillFeed.dll in BepInEx/plugins/
- Install Jötunn as well (and Guilds if you want faction colors)
- Launch once to create BepInEx/config/com.rdmods.pvpkillfeed.cfg
- Edit the HUD on your machine. Other players keep their own layout
Chat commands
Local to you. Session only. Rejoining the server turns the feed back on.
| Command | Effect |
|---------|--------|
| /disablekillfeed | Hide the feed on this client |
| /enablekillfeed | Show it again |
These do not stop kills from broadcasting.
Configuration
File: BepInEx/config/com.rdmods.pvpkillfeed.cfg
All HUD keys are local. The server does not push them.
| Key | Default | |

| OffsetX | 0 | Horizontal inset (px), -400 to 400 |
| OffsetY | 36 | Vertical inset (px), 0 to 400 |
| NewestOnTop | true | New kills stack from the top |
| EntryDurationSeconds | 7 | Time fully visible, 0.5 to 30 |
| FadeOutSeconds | 2 | Fade length, 0.05 to 10 |
| MaxEntries | 3 | Lines on screen at once, 1 to 8 |
| FontSize | 15 | Name size, 8 to 36 |
| IconSize | 20 | Sword icon size (px), 8 to 48 |
| EntrySpacing | 4 | Gap between lines (px), 0 to 24 |

| BackgroundPadX | 5 | Bar padding X (px), 0 to 32 |
| BackgroundPadY | 1 | Bar padding Y (px), 0 to 32 |
Save the file and the feed updates without a restart.
Notes
- Killer on Feed is the player hit that dropped the victim to 0 HP.
- /disablekillfeed is never saved; it is not a config flag. Its only single session command.
Known Issue:
- PvP kills resulting from status effects will not generate a kill feed broadcast. For example, if an opponent dies from a lingering poison tick rather than the direct impact of your weapon, that kill is not broadcasted on feed. Unfortunately, this cannot be fixed; Valheim's base engine treats all status effects as neutral damage sources and does not track which specific player applied them.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
