PUP PLANK COMPATIBILITY
KEEP YOUR FOOTING
Combine the base. Keep the planks beneath your feet.
PUP Plank Compatibility is a small add-on for PUP FPS. It leaves the corewood plank prefab mm_corewood_planks out of new bake selections, allowing PUP FPS to combine the rest of an eligible base while those planks stay ordinary, usable building pieces.
Compatibility / v0.1.0
Built against Valheim 1.0.16 and BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2350.
Supports the original PUP FPS 1.0.32 and 1.0.33 binaries. Other builds leave this helper inactive and produce a warning in the log.
Install this helper on player clients, including a player-hosted game's host. A dedicated server does not need the helper. PUP FPS itself must be installed at the same version on the server/host and every player.

STEADY FOUNDATIONS / WHAT IT DOES
Some modded corewood planks can be selected for a PUP FPS bake but fail its collider validation. On a dedicated server, this can end with “Bake cancelled: client physics was not ready”, followed by a restoration message.
This helper excludes one known affected prefab: mm_corewood_planks. It checks both the prefab name and identifier before excluding anything. It does not remove the planks or change their collision, appearance or use.
All other pieces still pass through PUP FPS's normal checks. This helper does not bypass validation, change timeouts, replace physics, run automatic bakes or modify restoration records. It has no work that runs every frame and no settings to configure.
If your world has no matching planks, it makes no change. It is a targeted compatibility fix, not a general fix for every failed bake or every source of low FPS. Performance gains depend on PUP FPS, the base and your hardware.
READY THE BASE / INSTALLATION
- Back up your world before using PUP FPS to combine a base.
- Install BepInExPack Valheim and a supported PUP FPS version. Keep the PUP FPS version identical across your server/host and players.
- Install PUP Plank Compatibility on clients that may initiate bakes. Installing it in everyone's client profile also covers future administrators and player hosting.
- Restart Valheim. The BepInEx log should show “PUP Plank Compatibility” followed by “ACTIVE with PUP FPS”.
- Use PUP FPS normally. A bake containing these planks logs how many were left unchanged.
For manual installation, place PUPPlankCompatibility.dll in BepInEx/plugins/PUPPlankCompatibility.
If you used the private PUP Test Compatibility build, remove PupTestCompatibility.dll before installing this release. BepInEx refuses to load this release alongside that older helper. Keep only one copy of the public DLL.
The dependency specifies the minimum PUP FPS release. It does not pin a maximum version. A manager update beyond the supported versions requires a reviewed helper update before this fix becomes active again.
FIELD NOTES / USING AND REMOVING IT
PUP FPS still controls permissions and controls: [ combines a cell and ] restores it. On a Swedish keyboard these are normally the physical Å and ¨ keys. Check for other mods using the same keys. Wait for the operation to complete before leaving the world.
Restore a baked cell through PUP FPS before editing its combined pieces, then bake it again after your changes. Preserve PUP FPS's world cache and restoration data while pieces are baked.
This helper creates no world data or custom items. Removing it stops the exclusion on future bakes; it does not restore or remove an existing PUP bake. If you also want to remove PUP FPS, follow its restoration instructions first.
If the helper is disabled, check the log for the supported-version warning or a duplicate private helper. If a bake still fails with this helper active, another piece or a diffe
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
