Pterodactyl Egg Server-Side Modpack
A lightweight Valheim dedicated server performance and networking modpack built for the Pterodactyl BepInEx Egg.
Designed as a drop-in base for virtually any dedicated Valheim server, including completely vanilla servers. Players do not need to install anything.
What does it do?
This pack combines FiresGhettoNetworking and FiresSteamworksPatcher to improve Valheim's dedicated-server networking, buffering, queues, send rates, and related server performance.
Most improvements work entirely server-side and are transparent to vanilla clients.
Players who also install the networking mods client-side get additional benefits, including client-side tuning and features negotiated between the server and client.
Additional Mods
- ValheimPerformanceOptimizations — reduces CPU overhead and unnecessary allocations across several of Valheim's systems, improving performance without intentionally changing vanilla gameplay.
- LocalizationCache — caches localization lookups to reduce unnecessary repeated work and improve performance.
- LogKeeper — keeps timestamped backups of BepInEx logs across server restarts, making crashes and other problems easier to diagnose.
- MaxPlayerCount — makes Valheim's normally hardcoded 10-player server limit configurable.
- Unshamed — keeps legitimate Valheim achievements working for players who optionally install the pack client-side.
See the individual mod pages for full feature lists, configuration options, and technical details.
Pterodactyl Installation
The official Valheim BepInEx Pterodactyl Egg supports automatic modpack installation.
Copy this package's Dependency string and use it as the Egg's ModPack (V_MODPACK) value.
Then reinstall the server.
Pterodactyl Valheim BepInEx Egg:
The dependency string includes the modpack version. When updating this pack, update the string in Pterodactyl and reinstall the server.
Why this pack?
If you're running a Valheim dedicated server, there's little reason not to use it.
It improves the server without requiring players to mod their game, making it useful whether you're running vanilla Valheim, a lightly modded server, or a full modpack.
Use it as the base, then add whatever other server or gameplay mods you want.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
