Prefab Hammer
Prefab Hammer is an advanced construction utility for Valheim. It allows players to capture custom build combinations (prefabs/blueprints) directly from their existing structures, name them, manage them in a catalog, and build them using standard resource calculations.
Features
- Manual and Area Capturing: Select pieces individually using precise green outlines, or fall back to a radius area save.
- Visual Multi-Row Requirements Grid: Clear, readable requirement display for complex prefabs and blueprints with enlarged icons, item names, and color-coded stock counts.
- Movable Requirements Display: Freely reposition the requirements panel via in-game drag (Shift + Drag) or custom X/Y configuration.
- In-Game Blueprint Trading: Swap saved custom structures directly with nearby players over the network.
- Inline Catalog Renaming: Organize and rename your custom prefabs dynamically within the Library Catalog.
- Stability Support Calculations: Custom designs automatically calculate structural integrity upon placement.
- Achievement & Lifetime Build Stats: Placing blueprints accurately credits every individual piece toward your character's building stats and achievements.
- Piece & Resource Origin Inspection: Color-coded origin tags ([Clean], [Cheated], [FreeBuild]) on crosshairs and item tooltips for placed pieces, loose ground drops, and containers.
- Clean FreeBuild Demolition: Automatically suppresses resource drops when dismantling FreeBuild structures to avoid inventory clutter.
- Undo History: Revert mistakes cleanly, automatically refunding construction materials at their original spots.
- Zero Alt-Tab Lag: Captures and places large structures in small background batches across frames to prevent freezes.
- Seamless MovingDay Compatibility: Shares the exact same selection pool in memory if the MovingDay mod is active.
Usage Guide
- Capturing and Saving a Blueprint
- Manual Selection: Equip the Hammer, look at any building piece, and press J to add it to your selection. Selected pieces highlight with a pulsating green overlay.
- Clearing Selection: Press Shift + J or Ctrl + J (or press J while aiming at empty air) to clear the active selection.
- Saving: Press K to open the Save Dialog. Enter a name for your custom prefab and click Save Combo.
- Area/Radius Fallback: If you open the Save Dialog (press K) without selecting any pieces first, the mod automatically captures all pieces within a radius of the targeted crosshair.
- Managing the Library Catalog
- Opening the Catalog: Press Delete or Shift + K to open the Prefab Manager directly to the Library Catalog tab.
- Renaming a Blueprint: In the Library Catalog list, click Rename next to any blueprint. Type the new name and click Save to update the template file and menu instantly.
- Deleting a Blueprint: Click Delete next to any blueprint, and click Confirm? to permanently delete the blueprint.
- Building and Requirements Display
- Placing a Blueprint: Open your hammer build menu, navigate to the Prefab tab, select your saved blueprint, and build it like a normal piece.
- Visual Requirements Grid: Complex prefabs display all required materials in a clean, multi-row grid of badges. Automatically integrates with chest-crafting mods (ValheimPlus, CraftFromContainers, AzuCraftyBoxes) to reflect combined materials across your bags and nearby chests:
- Green line (e.g. 892 / 1250): Requirements are satisfied (you have 1,250 available out of 892 needed, or free build is active).
- Red line (e.g. 892 / 14 or 892 / 0): Requirements are missing (you need 892, but only have 14 or 0 available).
- Repositioning the Requirements Display:
- Hold Shift (or your configured drag key) and Left-Click Drag anywhere on the requirements display to move it freely on your screen.
- Releasing the mouse button automatically saves the position to your config file.
Batched Construction: Large blueprints build automatically over multiple frames to prevent game freezing. A progress m
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
