Potential Reforged
Customize the Forge of Potential's success chance and what happens when refinement fails.
- Set the success rate from 0% to 100%. Failure chance is the remaining percentage.
- Choose whether failed attempts destroy the item.
- Choose whether non-breaking failures reduce the item's level, and set the loss from 1 to 10 levels. Item level cannot fall below 1.
- Runs on your client; no server installation is needed. Settings apply to your own refinement attempts.
Defaults: 65% success, no item destruction, and one level lost on failure.
Successful refinement upgrades the item normally. Normal idol and material costs still apply.
| BreakOnFailure | ReduceLevelOnFailure | Failed attempt |
| --- | --- | --- |
| false | false | Item keeps its current level |
| false | true | Item loses the configured number of levels, minimum level 1 |
| true | Either | Item is destroyed; normal game break refunds apply |
Configuration
The config is generated after the first launch:
BepInEx/config/Dyls123.PotentialReforged.cfg
Close Valheim before editing, then restart to apply your changes.
[Chances]
SuccessChance = 65
[Failure]
BreakOnFailure = false
ReduceLevelOnFailure = true
LevelsLostOnFailure = 1
LevelsLostOnFailure accepts whole numbers from 1 to 10 and defaults to 1. It only applies when ReduceLevelOnFailure = true and BreakOnFailure = false. Existing configs gain this setting after launching the updated mod.
Manual install
- Install BepInEx 5 for Valheim.
- Create BepInEx/plugins/Dyls123-PotentialReforged/ in your Valheim folder.
- Copy PotentialReforged.dll from this ZIP into that folder.
- Launch Valheim to generate the config.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
