This is a private build for me and my friends. You probably want the real thing instead:
Offline Companions Reborn by Maddhattr.
It's a fork of Offline Companions Reborn 1.4.74 (Maddhattr), which is itself an update of
Offline Companions by ProfMags.
All credit for the original mod, its idea and most of its code goes to them. Released under the same
MIT license with both of their copyright notices kept.
Install
- Needs BepInExPack_Valheim (your mod manager installs it).
- Disable or uninstall Offline Companions Reborn / Offline Companions first. They can't run together;
if one of them is enabled, this mod won't load.
- Your companions carry over. On first run your settings are copied over from Offline Companions Reborn's
config file.
What's different
Movement and following
- One movement system for everything (following, orders, fighting, jobs), with smooth route-following and
one clear set of steps for getting unstuck instead of several that fought each other.
- Uses ladders (including stacked and leaning ones) to follow you between floors; walks through doors it opens.
- Follows like a person: relaxes near you when you stop, keeps its place relative to the way you're walking
(not where your camera points), matches your pace, and only appears next to you when it's truly stuck out of sight.
Orders
- "Go there" means go there and stay there, with a marker showing the spot.
- Look at one companion and press the order key to give orders to just that one.
- Aiming at nothing no longer cancels everything.
Jobs
- Companions go looking for work (up to WorkSearchRadius, default 60 m) instead of only checking where they stand:
base jobs (smelting, cooking, farming, repairs, fires) at home, gathering and hunting around you.
- Fishing uses real fish: it finds fish that bite on its bait, goes to the shore near them and catches the fish that's
actually there. Bait is only used up by a catch.
Tidy up (off by default)
- Turn on [Tidy] Enabled in the settings to get a Tidy up order: at home, it sorts your chests by kind (wood, stone,
metals, food, gear...), carries misplaced items to the right chest, puts away loose items lying around, and tidies
each chest. Never touches incinerators, item hoppers, carts, ships, tombstones or other people's private chests.

- No more "companion is Rested" popup.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
