About this mod Author’s original text

The Fuck Pit Radio

Version 1.3.4 supports Valheim 1.0's new build menu and avoids Jötunn's incompatible legacy piece-registration path.

Welcome to The Fuck Pit: a Viking sanctuary of roaring fires, rugged timber and gloriously uninhibited nightlife. It is where warriors come to cast off their armour, surrender to the rhythm and forge the sort of memories that are best left out of the sagas.

Placeable Radio was created for one noble and highly specific purpose: to fill The Fuck Pit with Technotronic's 1989 hit “Pump Up the Jam.” Build the radio inside the venue, add your legally obtained copy of the song as track01, and switch it on when the doors open. Additional tracks are supported, but “Pump Up the Jam” is the intended main event.

The playlist repeats continuously and fades naturally with distance, keeping the party inside the pit instead of broadcasting it across all Valheim. The copyrighted song itself is not included with this mod.

Any player can turn the radio on or off. Its powered state and current track are saved in the world and synchronised to everyone connected, so the whole server experiences the same musical atmosphere.

The Fuck Pit — where desires are unleashed and the night is yours to conquer.

Requirements

  • Valheim with BepInEx
  • Jötunn 2.30.0 or later
  • The same Placeable Radio version on the dedicated server and every player

Manual installation

Extract the PlaceableRadio folder from the manual ZIP into Valheim/BepInEx/plugins. The result should be:

Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/PlaceableRadio/

├── PlaceableRadio.dll

└── Tracks/

├── track01.mp3

├── track02.mp3

└── track03.ogg

Install the same folder on the dedicated server. The server does not play audio, but it uses the DLL to register and synchronise the radio piece.

Opening The Fuck Pit

Use a Hammer and open the Furniture category. The recipe is:

  • 10 Fine Wood
  • 2 Bronze
  • 1 Surtling Core

Place the radio somewhere suitable inside The Fuck Pit. Look at it and press the normal Use key to turn it on or off.

Managing the playlist

Curate The Fuck Pit's soundtrack by putting legally distributable MP3, OGG or WAV files in the Tracks folder and naming them track01, track02, track03 and so on. The radio sorts by the number, plays every track in order, then returns to track01 and repeats the playlist for as long as it remains switched on.

The numeric sequence can contain gaps, so track01.mp3, track05.ogg, and track20.mp3 will still play in that order. Other filenames are ignored.

You can change the folder or local playback settings in BepInEx/config/uk.co.jamespower.placeableradio.cfg after launching once:

[Audio]

TrackDirectory = Tracks

AudibleDistance = 25

Volume = 0.7

Audio settings are local to each player. Every server and client installation should contain the same numbered tracks.

Notes

  • The radio body is generated by the plugin, so no Unity asset bundle is required.
  • The server synchronises whether a radio is powered. Playback itself occurs on each client.
  • The current track is synchronised. Clients joining after a radio was switched on begin that track from the start; exact playback position within the track is not synchronised.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
