Offliner

v1.0.2·Updated 2026-09-25

A cosmetic skill that levels while you're the only one online on a server. Play alone long enough and you slowly turn into a draugr: grey skin, groans, green glow, mist, and finally a draugr body.

Offliner

Your friends logged off again? Now there are consequences.

Offliner adds a new skill, Offlining, that levels up while you are the only player online on a dedicated server. The longer you play alone, the more you turn into a draugr.

What happens as you level

| Level | Time alone (approx.) | Effect |

|---|---|---|

| 30 | ~1.4 h | Your skin starts fading to draugr grey-blue, and you start groaning now and then |

| 45 | ~3.5 h | The groans get more frequent |

| 65 | ~8.3 h | Your head glows draugr green |

| 75 | ~11.7 h | You carry the draugr's aura |

| 100 | ~29.8 h | You become a draugr: the draugr body on your own skeleton, so every animation still works. The last level alone takes 7 hours |

  • You gain 15 XP per minute while you are alone on a dedicated server. AFK counts.
  • Nothing happens in single-player or self-hosted worlds, or while anyone else is online.
  • Dying lowers the skill like any other skill, so dying at 100 turns you human again.
  • Purely cosmetic. There are no stat changes, and your saved character's appearance is never modified. Uninstalling returns everyone to normal.
  • Other players with the mod see your skin, glow, aura, groans and draugr body.

Install

  • Install with a mod manager (r2modman or Mod Manager). Requires BepInExPack_Valheim and Jötunn.
  • Every player who wants to gain the skill or see the effects needs the mod. The server doesn't need it. Players without the mod can still join; they just see you as normal.

Commands

All commands are cheat commands, exactly like god and spawn: switch on devcommands first (F5 → devcommands). They work in single-player and hosted worlds. On a dedicated server, vanilla Valheim blocks all cheats, so admins need the Server devcommands mod by JereKuusela on their client (the server doesn't need it).

  • offlining: set your level for testing.
  • offliner_tune: adjust skin and glow colours live.
  • offliner_debug: writes effect state to BepInEx/offliner_debug.txt.
  • offliner_findfx: lists particle effects by name.

Notes

  • Built for the current Valheim version (Unity 6), BepInEx 5.4 and Jötunn 2.30.
  • Reusing vanilla assets means a future Valheim update may rename one. If that happens, that single effect is skipped, and a warning is logged.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
