Odin's Missing Patch
The patch Odin forgot: the quality of life changes Valheim should have shipped years ago. Client
side, no server install. Every tweak can be switched off on its own.
This is a modpack. Install it and you get the five mods below; each has its own page, and you
can just as well install only the ones you want.
⚠️ Alpha. Built heavily with AI, and many ideas come from other mods (credits on each mod's
page). Co-op testing can lag a release by a week. It is developed for as long as we play, and
may stop at any time. The source is free to copy
under the MIT license; a credit is appreciated.
What's in it
| Mod | What it does |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Odin's Essentials | Bigger station ranges, fires that stay lit, repair everything at once, instant Rested, fast portals, no stamina for chores out of combat, gear that equips while you run, Haldor's pockets earlier, Forsaken powers from the radial menu. |
| Odin's Reach | The chests around you count as your own: craft and refuel from them, quick stack into them with one key, and fill, take, place and sort with buttons beside the inventory. |
| Odin's Pins | Dungeons, ore and places pinned as you find them and shared with everyone online, map tables that sync on their own, biome coloured pins, death pins that clear with the grave. |
| Odin's Beacon | A glowing mark over every other player, seen through walls and held at the screen's edge when they are off screen. |
Want trolls and bosses to smash the creatures in their way?
Collateral Damage. Doors you
kick open? This Is Valheim!. Both
are built the same way, but they change the game rather than ease it, so they are not in the pack.
Coming from an older version
Odin's Missing Patch used to be one mod. Updating it installs the five mods above, so you keep
every tweak. Each mod has its own config file now, and on its first start takes over every
setting of the old rauschekuh.odinsmissingpatch.cfg that kept its name.
Multiplayer
Nobody else needs any of the mods, and nothing goes on the server. When a mod touches the world,
it does exactly what you could do by hand.
Install
Use a mod manager (Gale or r2modman): it installs the five mods and the BepInEx pack for you.
Recommendations
Mods I run alongside this pack. None of them overlap with it.
- Unshamed gives back the achievements Valheim
disables when it sees a mod.
- HUD Compass adds a compass with
live markers for your ships, carts and portals.
- Target Portal lets you pick a portal's
destination from the map. Needs a server install.
- Plant Everything puts bushes,
mushrooms, flowers and every tree on the cultivator.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
