About this mod Author’s original text

Odinrealm Fishing

This mod is an effort to bring fishing into the early game.

Right from the start, a Simple Fishing Pole and spear fishing get you

catching fish immediately, and Raw Fish can be cooked at the Workbench

before you've even built a real kitchen. Later, once you've put down

roots in the Meadows, the Fish Trap gives you a passive way to keep

fish coming in without standing at the water's edge. Push further with

a boat and a level 3 Workbench, and the Fish Net and Klippfisk open up

trawling from the water and a hearty new soup to cook with the catch.

Features

  • Fishing pole — bait it with an uncooked Neck Tail and cast from

shore or a boat to catch Meadows fish. Much shorter cast than the

fishing rod from Haldor. Craftable at a level 1 Workbench.

  • Spear fishing — throw your spear to catch a fish. The fish will

appear impaled on your spear if you hit it! Pick the spear back up to

add the fish to your inventory.

  • Raw Fish – This recipe has moved to the Workbench so you can cook

your fish over the fire right away. Cooked Fish is now the best

Meadows food available.

  • Fish trap — build one at the water's surface and check back on it

every so often. It has a chance to have trapped a real fish from the

local waters, ready to collect. Craftable with the hammer once you

have a level 3 Workbench.

  • Fish net — mount it on your ship's stern cleat and tow it while

underway to trawl for fish. Craftable at any level 3 Workbench. Attach

on Karve, Longship and Drakkar. The cleat is on the port side of the

ship, opposite the rudder.

  • Klippfisk — a new, hearty early-game soup cooked at the Cauldron

from Cooked Fish, Carrot, and Thistle.

Notes

This mod ships as a folder (not a bare DLL) because one of its sound

effects is a real audio file loaded alongside the plugin — install it the

normal way (through r2modman, Mod Manager, or by copying the

whole folder into BepInEx/plugins) and it'll be picked up correctly.

Requires Jotunn.

Built and tested against Valheim 1.0.16.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
