Nomap Printer

In nomap mode reading the Cartography Table will generate a simplified map to be shown by pressing Map hotkey.

This mod was designed to enhance nomap playthroughs for players to look at their current exploration progress without the spoiler of live updates.

This mod could be handy if you want some map reference for your travels but don't want to draw map yourself.

If you don't want this generated map and have your own file you can set its name in "Shared file", change Map storage config to "Load from shared file" and it will be shared to all clients from the server.

File can be set as full qualified name or just file name without path. Latter one should be placed near dll file in any subdirectory.

Map content will be automatically updated on file change.

Main features:

  • generates static map based originally on algorithms of MapPrinter mod by ASpy (all credits to him)
  • shows that map at ingame window, only in nomap mode (map updates only on table interaction)
  • map is saved between session
  • option to save generated map to file
  • map generated in 4096x4096 resolution with option to generate 8192x8192 (smoother visuals at the cost of longer draw and larger size)
  • 4 different styles of map with topographical lines
  • configurable pins on generated and interactive maps
  • optional player and controlled ship marker hiding on the interactive map
  • optional session-persistent interactive map focus independent of the player position
  • pins config is server synced
  • Full gamepad support
  • contours of unexplored terrain on static map (non vanilla versions)

Pins default config

  • pins only shows in explored part of the map
  • traders' pins are always shown (especially handy for Hildir's quest pins)
  • active persistent event markers and areas, including Jotun invasions, are shown even in unexplored areas
  • only show your own pins (no shared pins)
  • pins that checked (red crossed) are not shown
  • Bed and death pins are not shown

Persistent event pins

Pins list -> Show persistent event pins enables markers and areas for active persistent events, including Jotun invasions. Enabled by default.

Pins -> Show persistent event pins always allows those pins in unexplored areas, independently of the merchant/Hildir setting. Enabled by default. Disable it to respect Show only explored pins without hiding events on explored terrain.

These settings affect generated maps and the interactive map when Apply pin visibility settings to interactive map is enabled. Show map pins remains the master switch; Show all pins overrides category, exploration, ownership, and checked-state filters as before. Showing an event does not reveal the terrain underneath it.

Only pins belonging to active persistent events are affected. Ordinary raids and Epic Loot markers retain their existing rules. Event areas use their world radius on generated maps. Generated maps remain snapshots and must be regenerated at the Cartography Table to reflect newly started or completed events; interactive map pins follow the game's live event list. Images loaded from a shared file are not modified.

Compass already recognizes these as the standard RandomEvent (marker) and EventArea (area) pin types. Its own type, name, and distance filters still apply independently of Nomap Printer.

Map can be

  • opened by Map bind key (default M)
  • closed by the same key or Escape
  • dragged by left mouse click and drag
  • zoomed by mouse wheel
  • set to default zoom by right mouse click
  • centered at spawn point by middle mouse click

Interactive map privacy

The vanilla interactive map opened through Nomap Printer can be configured without replacing it with a static image:

  • Prevent changing pins on interactive map blocks pin creation, removal, checked-state changes, and taking ownership of shared pins
  • Apply pin visibility settings to interactive map is enabled by default and applies the existing pin category, exploration, ownership, and checked-state rules to the interactive map
  • Hide

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.

Install these first, or the mod will not work:
