NoCheatFlag
Removes the cheated-item tag from items, so tooltips stop showing 'summoned through cheating'. Works on clients and dedicated servers.
About this mod Author’s original text
NoCheatFlag
Stops items from being marked as cheated, so tooltips no longer show the grey "summoned through cheating" line.
Handy if you moved a character or a base between worlds, imported items, or run mods that grant items, and perfectly ordinary gear ended up tagged.
What it does
Valheim stores a cheated flag inside every item. Once an item carries it, the flag also spreads to any stack it merges into. NoCheatFlag clears that flag:
- when item data is read (inventories, chests, network traffic, character files),
- when a whole inventory is loaded,
- when a new item is created,
- when a tooltip is built, as a final safety net.
Because items are saved back without the flag, your character and your containers clean themselves up as they are saved. No world editing takes place.
Install
Install with a mod manager, or drop NoCheatFlag.dll into BepInEx/plugins.
The same file works on clients and on dedicated servers. There is nothing to configure.
- On a client: every item you look at is clean, and your character file is rewritten without the flag.
- On a dedicated server: items the server creates or loads are clean. Characters live on each player's own PC, so players who want their own items cleaned need the mod installed too.
Notes
- Achievements: this only removes the per-item flag. Valheim separately records whether a character or world has ever used cheats, and this mod does not touch those records, so it will not restore achievements blocked that way.
- Stacking: the flag never prevented stacking. Items that refuse to stack differ in quality or world level instead.
- Multiplayer: no server-side requirement and no version check, so it can be installed by individual players.
Compatibility
Built against Valheim 1.0.12 and BepInEx 5.4.2350. Requires no other mods.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
