About this mod Author’s original text
NoAutoPickup
Client-side Valheim mod. Turns auto-pickup off near player-built campfires and hearths, tamed animals, and Item Drawers so tossed items stay on the ground (drawers can vacuum them, tames can eat). Walking out of range restores auto-pickup to whatever it was before. World-generated fires (Ashlands ruins, enemy camps) are ignored.
The vanilla AutoPickup hotkey (default V, or the controller JoyAutoPickup combo) can turn it back on while you are still in a zone. When the mod changes the flag, it shows the same AutoPickup: On / AutoPickup: Off HUD message as the game.
Why
In co-op, people dump loot for Item Drawers to swallow. With auto-pickup on, the nearest player becomes the vacuum instead. Same problem when you toss food for a tame and walk back.
Range
Uses the largest of:
- Valheim default auto-pickup range (2)
- Live Player.m_autoPickupRange (BiggerPickupRadius and similar)
- Item Drawers DrawerPickupRange from kg.ItemDrawers.cfg
On the current pack that is typically 20 m because drawers are set to 20.
Install
Client only. Requires BepInExPack Valheim. Does nothing useful on a dedicated server.
Install with a mod manager, or drop NoAutoPickup.dll into BepInEx/plugins (a subfolder is fine).
Config
Generated at BepInEx/config/Ageous.NoAutoPickup.cfg after first launch.
Fires.Only Player Built (default on) ignores world-placed fire_pit / hearth objects so Ashlands ruin fires do not suppress auto-pickup.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
