NarcLab DevTools
Dedicated-admin-authorized Valheim devcommands and network prefab spawning for explicitly trusted administrators.
About this mod Author’s original text
NarcLab DevTools
NarcLab DevTools provides server-authorized Valheim devcommands and unrestricted
network prefab spawning for explicitly trusted dedicated-server administrators.
WARNING
NarcLab DevTools gives authorized administrators powerful world and gameplay
commands, including unrestricted network prefab spawning. Only grant native
Valheim server-admin privileges to players you trust. Large spawn quantities
can heavily affect server performance; avoid extreme creature or object counts
on production worlds.
Qualified environment
- Valheim 1.0.12 (network version 40)
- BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2333
- Dedicated multiplayer server
Installation
Install the package on the dedicated server and on each administrator client
that needs DevTools commands. A compatible mod manager can install the package,
or the DLL can be placed through the normal BepInEx plugin mechanism.
Authorization is server-authoritative. The public default is
AuthorizationMode = DevToolsAdmins; the player's stable platform identity must
be present in:
BepInEx/config/NarcLabDevTools/adminlist.txt
Add one identity per line. The validated Steam form is
Steam_. Blank lines and lines beginning with # are ignored.
Malformed entries are ignored safely. A missing list is created automatically
and remains empty, which grants nobody. Restart the server after editing it.
Available authorization modes in
BepInEx/config/ca.narclab.valheim.devtools.cfg:
- DevToolsAdmins: requires the dedicated DevTools admin list.
- ValheimAdmins: requires Valheim's native server-admin authorization.
- Either: accepts either source.
- Both: requires both sources.
Display names and client-side admin state never grant access. The old
RequireServerAdmin and AllowAdditionalSteamIds settings are not active in
0.1.4; AuthorizationMode is the single mode selector.
Usage
Open the F5 console. You do not need to enter devcommands first.
Validated examples:
spawn Wood 1000
spawn Coins 50
spawn Boar 1
god
fly
nocost
players
listkeys
spawn accepts an amount from 1 through 1000 inclusive. Prefab names are
case-sensitive in the qualified version and are resolved dynamically against
the current server's network prefab registry. Unknown or non-networked prefabs
are rejected. Item stacks are split according to the prefab's current maximum
stack size; non-item objects are created as server-owned network objects.
The players command provides an authenticated server player list. Other
available commands follow the current Valheim command registry. Some
client-local commands require a connected player character and execute on the
authorized client only after a fresh server authorization response.
NarcLab Resources compatibility
NarcLab Resources 0.1.1 is optional and is not a hard dependency. When both
mods are installed on the server and client:
- authorized administrators receive DevTools spawn behavior;
- non-admin players fall through to NarcLab Resources;
- non-admin players can still spawn only Wood and Stone through Resources.
Runtime testing also confirmed that a Resources-only client continues to work
when DevTools is installed on the server.
Unmodded clients
A fully unmodded Valheim 1.0.12 client was able to join the qualified dedicated
server, load the world, remain connected, see vanilla Wood and Stone drops, and
pick them up normally. Unmodded clients do not receive DevTools commands.
Dedicated-server notes
- DevTools commands require the plugin on both the dedicated server and the
administrator client.
- Authorization is checked for each request by the server.
- The dedicated DevTools admin list is independent from Valheim's native list
in the default mode.
- Requests are rate-limited and protected against replay.
- Spawned objects must be current registered network prefabs.
- The mod does not provide arbitrary server filesystem, reflection, or shell
command access.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
