Support Me!
Thank you to everyone who have used my mods during early access. All of your feedback and support has made the hundreds of hours sunk into these projects worth it. Even though modding has never really paid out in cash it has rewarded me with friends, community, and even more fun times! To all of you who have bought me coffees over the years, I am extremely grateful for your kindness!
If you would like to keep supporting the development and maintenance of my mods you can buy me a coffee through the image link below.
Looking for a Valhiem server? I have partnered with Survival Servers to get you 25% off with the code `VALHEIM25`! Order through the link by clicking on the image below and I will get a portion of the proceeds. You get a server to play with your friends and I can go buy some more of that sweet sweet coffee to keep the mods working!
Features
- Adds a cave for mining Copper and Tin in the Black Forest (prefab name `VV_CopperTinCave`)
- Adds a cave for mining Silver in the Mountains (prefab name `VV_SilverCave`)
- Adds a cave for mining Copper and Iron in the Plains (prefab name `VV_TarCave`)
- Adds the ability to prevent player terrain changes from tools
Adding Caves
- If creating a new world with this mod installed the caves will be added automatically on world generation.
- If you are adding this to an existing world you can run the vanilla `genloc` command to add caves to unexplored areas of the map. Be aware this can change the positions of unexplored boss locations and can make your map pins inaccurate.
- If your map is heavily explored you will need to use another mod to automatically add the locations to explored areas.
Configure Amounts
There are three configuration options to set the cave amounts generated on world creation and when running the `genloc` command. When vanilla updates with new locations this command may be run automatically for you when you upgrade your game version. Make sure these values are set in your configuration to the desired amount. They do not sync to players since they are only used on the server or client generating the world.
Set to 0 to prevent adding that particular cave to your world. Values over 50 are not recommended since this can crowd out your world and prevent vanilla locations from spawning in their expected amounts. If using other mods that add locations you may want to reduce the amount of caves spawned to make space for those.
Confirming Success
Use the find command such as "find VV_SilverCave 50" in game after creating a world to have all these locations added to your map as pins. This will help you ensure the world had a good spawn. Example of the warning message displayed in your log file on a bad spawn after initial world generation:
Failed to place all VV_SilverCave, placed 5 out of 50
Don't know how to use commands? Dedicated servers do not allow for use of commands, but there are mods that can enable them (like Server devcommands by JereKuusela). The commands mentioned above are considered a "cheat". To use cheats you must enable them with the `devcommands` command, you may have to be an admin for them to work depending on what mod you use to access commands.
Locking Terrain Changes
I think terrain changes in general look ugly. This was the main idea that inspired the whole mod. To prevent players from being able to modify the terrain set the LockTerrain configuration to True. The AdminBypass configuration will allow all admins to still perform terrain changes when turned on. If there are items you would like the mod to ignore add the prefab names to the LockTerrainIgnoreItems configuration as a comma-separated string (for example: Cultivator, Hoe, PickaxeAntler). This should work with custom items added by other mods. All original piece table entrie
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
