McCarryWeight
Sets how much your character can carry on its own, without depending on a belt.
A Viking carries 300 by default and has to give up the utility slot to the
Megingjord for another 150. This mod lets you pick the base number, so the
utility slot stays free for something you actually want to wear.
What it does
- One setting: how much the character carries with nothing equipped.
- The Megingjord is left completely alone. If you wear one, its bonus is still
added on top, exactly as the game intends.
Configuration
BepInEx/config/joaorodrigues.valheim.mccarryweight.cfg, written on first launch.
| Setting | Default | Meaning |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Enabled | true | Turn the mod off without uninstalling it. |
| CarryWeight | 1500 | Carry weight with no belt equipped. Vanilla is 300. |
Changes apply immediately, with no need to restart or re-equip anything.
Notes
- Client-side. Carry weight is calculated on your own client, so this works
on servers that do not have the mod. It applies only to you; nobody else on
the server is affected.
- Carry weight is not stored in your character save. It comes from the Player
component and is rebuilt every time the character loads, which is why this
needs a mod rather than a save edit. Uninstalling returns you to vanilla with
no lasting change to your character.
Installation
Install with a mod manager, or drop McCarryWeight.dll into BepInEx/plugins.
Requires BepInEx for Valheim.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
