Make tower shields great again!!!
- Tired of the same boring gameplay with bows and sniping everything from the distance?
- You are a beefy tank inside willing to use shields and do close combat?
- Do not like that bucklers are op and parry is over abused mechanic?
Look no more, we make best tower shields!
Mod changes:
- Adds knockback damage to the enemies when you block them. Damage is the blocking force * scaled to your blocking level. Meaning if the shield has block value of 50 and you your blocking level is 20 then you deal 11 damage when knocking back mobs.
Some math below:
blocking factor = blocking level / 100 = 20 / 100 - 0.2
real damage blocked (value in parenthesis) = shield blocking value (1 + blocking factor 0.5) = 50 (1 + 0.2 0.5) = 50 * 1.1 = 55
knockback damage dealt = real damage blocked blocking factor = 55 0.2 = 11 damage
- Increase base blocking value of all tower shields by 20% and quality upgrade up to 100% progressively,
- Adding pierce resistances to all tower shields, and serpent gets 4 resistances,
|Name | blocking base old => new | Quality increment old => new | New quality 3 blocking | Resistances |
|-|-|-|-|-|
| Wood tower shield | 10 -> 12 | 6 -> 9 | 30 | Pierce |
| Bone tower shield | 32 -> 38 | 6 -> 11 | 60 | Pierce |
| Iron tower shield | 52 -> 62 | 6 -> 13 | 88 | Pierce |
| Serpent scale shield | 60 -> 72 | 6 -> 15 | 102 | Pierce, Spirit, Lightning, Slash |
| Black metal tower shield | 104 -> 124 | 6 -> 18 | 160 | Pierce |
| Flametal tower shield | 140 -> 168 | 6 -> 24 | 216 | Pierce |
Knockback damage is displayed as grey damage (pointed by orange arrow) when you are blocking with tower shield (Hard setting):
These shields have 10% increase in stamina consumption for run, walk and 25% decrease in speed (vs -20% in vanilla).
Highly recommending ReliableBlock mod to play, thus adding as the dependency.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
