About this mod Author’s original text
Lore Accurate Lightning Strike
Makes Valheim 1.0's Lightning Strike staff behave like a proper lightning thrower:
- faster projectiles;
- configurable projectile speed;
- configurable scatter, defaulting to zero;
- no random velocity;
- optional removal of the upward launch arc so bolts follow the crosshair.
The mod targets the staff's StaffThunderBlood runtime prefab and its projectile directly. It does not change damage, resource costs, attack timing, equipment, inventory, or save data.
Installation
Install with a -compatible mod manager, or place LoreAccurateLightningStrike.dll in Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/LoreAccurateLightningStrike.
Requires BepInExPack for Valheim.
Configuration
After the first launch, edit:
Valheim/BepInEx/config/rook.valheim.loreaccuratelightningstrike.cfg
Important settings:
- SpeedMultiplier: projectile-speed multiplier; default 3.
- ScatterDegrees: spread in degrees; default 0.
- DisableCircularScatter: disables circular multi-projectile distribution; default true.
- RemoveLaunchArc: removes the built-in upward angle; default true.
Multiplayer
This is a client-side firing tweak. Each player who wants the altered projectile behavior should install it. It does not need to be installed on a dedicated server.
Compatibility
Built for Valheim 1.0 and the StaffThunderBlood runtime prefab. Another mod that changes the same attack or projectile setup may override or compound these values.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
