Prevents UI/hotbar/Menu switching when using mixed inputs.
About this mod Author’s original text
LockUItoKBM
A specialized utility mod for Valheim designed to lock the User Interface to Keyboard and Mouse (KBM) mode, preventing erratic UI flickering when using mixed input styles.
This mod is perfect for players who want to combine the analog movement precision of a controller with the superior aiming accuracy of a mouse/trackpad (such as Steam Deck or hybrid controller users).
🚀 Why Use This Mod?
By default, Valheim dynamically switches its entire UI back and forth whenever it detects a gamepad input vs. a mouse input. This mod forces the UI to stay locked in KBM mode.
This allows you to map:
- Left Stick: Analog joystick input (for seamless slow walk, jog, and run transitions).
- Right Stick / Touchpad & Buttons: Keyboard and mouse inputs for superior camera control, precise aiming, and quick inventory management.
Note: Because the UI is locked to KBM, you will need to use your mouse or right touchpad to control the cursor when navigating in-game menus.
📦 Installation & Setup
- Install the Mod: Drop LockUItoKBM.dll into your Valheim\BepInEx\plugins folder.
- Configure Steam Input:
- Open Steam and go to Valheim's Controller Layout settings.
- Search community layouts or customize your own so that the Left Stick is set to "Joystick Move".
- Ensure the rest of the controller bindings (buttons, triggers, right pad/stick) are mapped directly to Keyboard and Mouse inputs.
- Launch and Enjoy!

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
