Lockstep
The next boss stays sealed until every player on the server has defeated the previous one. Fast players wait for the
group; nobody skips ahead.
Features
- Altar gate: a boss altar opens only once everyone has defeated the boss before it.
- Waiting list: a closed altar names the players the group is waiting for; the offering is kept.
- Credit per player: everyone who hit the boss, plus everyone within a set distance when it dies.
- Roster: fills itself as players join; players away for a set number of days stop holding the group back.
- Late joiners: new players catch up with everything the world has already cleared, or earn each boss themselves.
- Safe mid-playthrough: bosses already defeated count as cleared for everyone.
- Spawn guard: a sealed boss cannot spawn even if another mod gets past the altar.
- Open world: biomes, portals, dungeons and crafting stay open, and the game's own boss progress is untouched.
- Boss chain: Eikthyr, The Elder, Bonemass, Moder, Yagluth, The Queen and Fader, in a YAML file; add modded bosses or
change the order.
Console commands
- lockstep status: each altar, open or who it waits for, and every player's credit.
- lockstep grant: gives a player credit for a boss (admins).
- lockstep revoke: takes that credit away (admins).
- lockstep ignore / unignore: the player never holds the group back, or counts again (admins).
- lockstep forget: removes a character from the roster; joining again starts fresh (admins).
- charter status: whether the server's settings bind yours.
Install
Needed on the server and every client; the server refuses clients without it. Install with r2modman or the
app, or put Lockstep.dll in BepInEx/plugins. Replaces OathBound (up to 0.1.2): remove it, its config
files are not read.
Configuration
BepInEx/config/com.Lockstep.cfg and LockstepChain.yml; the server keeps its roster in
Lockstep..roster.yml. Every setting is described in the file and applies without a restart; the server's
values bind every player (Lock Configuration). The Wiki tab has the details.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
