About this mod Author’s original text
Keep Your Gear
When you die, your equipment stays in your inventory. Everything else (materials, food, potions, trophies, coins) goes to the tombstone as usual.
Client-side only. Each player who wants it installs it; the server does not need it.
What counts as equipment
Weapons, bows, shields, armour, capes, utility items (belts, wishbone), trinkets, tools, torches, and ammo - whether or not they are equipped when you die.
Change the list in BepInEx/config/com.burks.keepyourgear.cfg:
- KeepItemTypes - item types that stay with you. Remove Ammo to drop arrows and bolts.
- AlwaysKeep - item prefab names that always stay (example: Coins).
- AlwaysDrop - item prefab names that always drop.
- StayEquipped - gear you had on when you died is still equipped when you respawn (default true).
- Enabled - turn the mod off without uninstalling.
Works with Equipment and Quick Slots
Checked against Equipment and Quick Slots 3.1.3: the two do not conflict. That mod's own
"Dont drop equipment on death" / "Dont drop quickslot items on death" settings can stay as they are.
Food or potions in quick slots still drop unless you turn on its quickslot setting.
Notes
- If nothing is left to drop, the empty tombstone removes itself.
- On worlds whose death penalty deletes items (Hard / Hardcore), the game deletes unequipped items before this mod sees them.
- Built for Valheim 1.0 / BepInEx 5.4.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
