Keep Inventory (Valheim BepInEx mod)
When you die, no tombstone is created and your inventory stays with you.
Build
- Install BepInEx (BepInExPack_Valheim) in your Valheim folder and run the game once so it generates publicized_assemblies.
- Install the.NET SDK, then from this folder run:
dotnet build -c Release -p:ValheimDir="C:\path\to\Valheim"
- Output: bin\Release\net462\KeepInventory.dll
Install
Copy KeepInventory.dll into Valheim\BepInEx\plugins\.
It runs on the client of each player who should keep their items (the death happens on the owning client). If you also want it on a dedicated server, copy it to the server's BepInEx\plugins\ too; it is harmless there.
Config
Generated at BepInEx\config\com.example.keepinventory.cfg:
- Enabled (default true)
- KeepSkills (default false): also skip the skill-loss penalty on death
Notes
- If you notice equipped gear gets unequipped after respawn on your game version, re-equip manually or tell me and I'll add a patch for it.
- Method names (Player.CreateTombStone, Skills.OnDeath) match recent Valheim versions; if a game update renames them the patch will log an error at startup.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
