About this mod Author’s original text

KairenceAntiSeeker

A high-performance accessibility mod designed for players with insectophobia and entomophobia.

About This Mod

I originally developed this mod for my wife, who suffers from severe insectophobia and had to quit Valheim just before venturing into the Mistlands because of the Seekers.

This mod eliminates the terrifying insect elements while completely preserving gameplay balance and crafting progression, allowing anyone with phobias to safely experience the Mistlands content together.

Beta Notice

This mod is currently in a beta state. While it has been thoroughly tested, unexpected edge cases or conflicts with specific mod combinations might still occur. If you run into any issues or bugs, please feel free to leave feedback so they can be patched in future updates.

Features

  • Zero Exposure: Completely mutes spawn sounds and disables model rendering on the very first frame.
  • No Ragdolls: Clears death effect lists to prevent any insect corpse parts or death screams from playing.
  • Loot Table Preserved: Directly triggers vanilla drops at the spawn point (Carapace, Seeker Meat, Royal Jelly, Mandible, etc.), ensuring progression and crafting remain completely intact.
  • Targeted Elimination: Only affects standard Seeker and SeekerBrute. SeekerBrood (larvae), SeekerQueen (boss mechanics), Tick, and Gjall function completely as normal.
  • Multiplayer Safe: Ensures loot is only generated once by the network owner to prevent duplicate drops on dedicated servers.

Installation

  • Install BepInEx for Valheim.
  • Place KairenceAntiSeeker.dll inside the Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/ directory (or use Gale Mod Manager).

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
