About this mod Author’s original text

Hamud Habob

Adds Hamud Habob, a nasty little dwarf thief in a red cap and a dark cloak, to every land biome, from the Meadows to the Ashlands.

He doesn't want to kill you. He wants your stuff.

  • Spots you from up to 50 m if you carry anything worth stealing and nothing blocks his view, and runs at you.
  • Snatches on the run: once he is next to you, he grabs a random item from your inventory — backpack, hotbar or even what you are wearing — and is gone before you turn around. No damage, just the theft.
  • Flees at almost sprint speed, giggling or shouting his own name, with your item held over his head.
  • Kill him and the sack bursts: everything he stole flies out, together with a handful of coins (more for starred Hamuds).
  • Nothing to steal? He leaves you alone. An empty-handed viking is not worth his time.
  • Fragile like a Surtling (25 HP): catching him is the hard part.
  • Dodge or block (facing him, shield up) to save your item. Sprinting away works too — he is just a bit slower than a sprinting player.
  • A sack that swells with every theft, glowing eyes, falls on his back when he dies.
  • Russian and English names (Хамуд Хабоб).

Installation

Install with r2modman Mod Manager. Every player and the server need the mod (Jotunn checks this when connecting).

Manual: put HamudHabob.dll, hamud.glb and the three hamud_*.wav files into one folder inside BepInEx/plugins. Requires Jotunn.

Spawn him with the dev console: spawn HamudHabob.

Configuration

BepInEx/config/wleee.hamudhabob.cfg (server and clients should use the same values):

Credits

  • Character, model, animations and sounds made for this mod. The voice is fully synthesized (no recorded or game voices).
  • Uses the Greyling as the base creature at runtime; no Valheim assets are redistributed.
  • Built on Jotunn and BepInEx.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
