About this mod Author’s original text

Greydwarf Wand

A small frost wand for early progression. Aim with your crosshair and fire a cyan bolt using stamina, with no Eitr food required by default.

  • One straight bolt per cast, without gravity or random spread.
  • Uses Elemental Magic and Valheim's normal combat scaling.
  • Three quality levels and no durability loss.
  • A half-size vanilla frost staff model and an included inventory icon.

Crafting and upgrades

Discover the materials, then craft at a level 1 Workbench.

| Material | Craft quality 1 | Upgrade to quality 2 | Upgrade to quality 3 |

| --- | ---: | ---: | ---: |

| Fine wood | 1 | 1 | 2 |

| Core wood | 1 | 1 | 2 |

| Greydwarf eye | 1 | 1 | 2 |

| Ancient seed | 1 | 1 | 2 |

| Workbench level | 1 | 2 | 3 |

Using the wand

Use Primary Attack to cast and Secondary Attack to block. There is no alternate spell. The default uses the game's two-handed staff equipment behavior despite its smaller appearance.

Each bolt costs 12 base stamina and deals 8 raw + 10 frost base damage at quality 1. Each upgrade adds 3 frost damage. Default speed is 45 m/s, flight range about 60 m, and knockback 15. Skill, resistance and other normal modifiers affect actual damage and costs.

Installation and multiplayer

Install this ZIP through your -compatible mod manager with:

  • BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2350+
  • Jotunn 2.30.0+

Install the same Greydwarf Wand version on the server and every client. Replace the previous DLL when updating; keep only one copy. For a manual install, place the included plugins/GreydwarfWand folder under BepInEx/plugins.

Remove the older WisplightWand.dll if present. The internal item ID remains WisplightWand, so existing items retain their identity.

Configuration

BepInEx/config/org.valheimmods.greydwarfwand.cfg is created on first launch. Adjust the recipe, station, damage, stamina/Eitr costs, speed, range and knockback. Gameplay settings follow the server while connected; server administrators can edit synchronized values through a compatible configuration manager.

Restart after editing the file. Local ModelScale and TintProjectileCyan settings also require a restart. OneHandedEquip is experimental; re-equip after changing it and check shield placement and animations.

To replace the inventory icon, put greydwarfwand_icon.png beside the DLL. Old Wisplight Wand configuration values are not copied automatically.

Compatibility

Maintenance release 1.0.2 rebuilds against Valheim 1.0.16, Jotunn 2.30.2 and BepInExPack 5.4.2351, and clarifies the description. Recipe, damage, controls and saved-item IDs are unchanged. It adds no new gameplay fix.

Startup/registration and managed combat-setting checks have passed. These checks do not cover every attack animation, shield configuration or multiplayer combat interaction. See the source archive's VALIDATION.md for the review scope.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
