Freyja's Feeder

Automated pet feeding, healing, and animal taming trough for Valheim.

Features

  • Automated Feeding of Tamed Pets: Automatically feeds hungry boars, wolves, lox, asksvin, hens/chickens, and modded tameables within range. Keeps your pets happy, nourished, and continuously ready for breeding without tedious manual feeding.
  • Automated Taming of Wild Beasts: Place a feeder near pens or wild animal enclosures. Untamed beasts will automatically eat matching food from the feeder to start and progress their taming process.
  • Pet Healing & Care: Injured pets are fed nutritious food from the trough to heal their wounds, displaying healing effects and floating numbers so your companions stay healthy through raids and battles.
  • Prevents Night Despawn: Wild creatures (such as coveted 2-star night wolves) that feed from Freyja's Feeder are prevented from despawning at sunrise.
  • Overcrowding Safeguard: Optional setting to pause feeding once a species reaches your desired population limit in the area, preventing runaway lag from excessive breeding.
  • Dedicated 3D Feeder Chest: Includes a custom carved Norse feeder trough 3D model with custom textures, authentic normal mapping, piece icon, and a 24-slot container grid (6x4).
  • Nearby Chest Linking: Optional config setting allowing Freyja's Feeder to pull animal food from adjacent standard chests if the feeder's own storage runs out.
  • DFG Category Integration: Seamlessly appears in the Hammer build menu under the shared DFG tab (supported by DFGHub).

Installation

Deploy FreyjasFeeder.dll along with FreyjasFeeder.obj, FreyjasFeeder.mtl, and texture files into your BepInEx plugins/FreyjasFeeder/ directory.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
