About this mod Author’s original text

Forge Pipes 1.1.4

Build an automation network with copper pipes. Supply machines, collect finished products and move items between chests.

This update

Crafting from nearby chests has moved into the separate Forge Chest Crafting mod. Install it only if you want that feature. Forge Pipes 1.1.4 contains no crafting hooks, chest scanning or crafting setting. Other pipe features and the 1.0 performance improvements remain.

Pipes and pipe-connected chests now ignore Eitr spark damage. Ordinary combat and structural damage still apply.

New in 1.1.4

  • Compact 1 m three-way junctions (side, up and down), four-way crosses and six-way junctions.
  • Four-way tees with a side branch plus an up or down branch, in 2 m and compact 1 m sizes. Rotate pieces while placing to aim the side branch in any horizontal direction.
  • Existing pipe layouts, Eitr spark protection and grouped visual rendering are unchanged.

Pipes and placement

  • 0.5–16 m two-click stretch pipes; 1 m and 2 m straight pipes; vertical pipes, elbows, tees, four-way and six-way junctions in full and compact sizes.
  • Tight 90-degree elbows in horizontal, up and down directions.
  • Standard and compact chest, ingredient, fuel and output connectors. Stretch pipes can connect to compact machine inputs.
  • Automatic snapping, top chest connection points, adjustable straight-pipe angles and overlapping pipe connections.
  • No ground support required; connected pipes can support floating chests.
  • Rough copper finish, optional port-colored networks and metal placement sounds.

Discover Wood and Copper ingots to unlock pipe recipes. Build with a Hammer near a workbench.

Automation

Pipes supply ingredients and fuel, collect finished products and move items between connected chests. The sorting hopper routes an item to a connected receiving chest that already contains it; unmatched items stay in the hopper. Eligible free pipe ends and hopper mouths can collect nearby dropped items. Transfers can continue while an attached chest is open.

Press Shift + E on a closed chest to cycle Both, Send only and Receive only. For a production buffer use Both; for final storage use Receive only. Two Both chests do not transfer directly. Connect machines using the correct ports: green = ingredients, gray = fuel, gold = output, blue = chests.

Leave Last Item protects one of each item identity in source chests for quick stacking; hoppers may still empty. Eligible automated cooked food grants cooking XP when collected from storage; newly automated honey grants harvest credit when collected.

Supported machines

Charcoal kiln, smelter, blast furnace, wooden and iron cooking stations, stone oven, fermenter, windmill, spinning wheel, Eitr refinery, beehive, Frigid Kiln and Sap Extractor. Kilns work twice as fast, hold four times as much wood and can accept Wood, Fine Wood and Core Wood. Fine/Core Wood intake can be disabled separately.

Performance and settings

Nearby pipe visuals are grouped by material, distant pipe meshes use lower detail, default pipe shadows are off and automation runs through a budgeted scheduler. Routing and socket positions are cached. The 1.1.1 pipe visuals and automation behavior are retained. Leave Last Item, Fine Wood and Core Wood are enabled by default. Existing BepInEx config values remain in effect.

English, Spanish, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian and Simplified Chinese are supported with English fallback.

BepInEx is required. The host and every player must use the same Forge Pipes version. Machines and connected routes must be loaded for automation to run. In-game Start Server is the intended multiplayer setup; dedicated-server operation has not been validated.

Known issue: Obliterator automation remains unreliable.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
