Firefly of the Death
A Valheim mod that adds a blood-red firefly designed to guide you toward your last remaining tomb.
The mod is built to interoperate with shudnal's Firefly, which is a hard dependency.
Features
- Adds a separate Firefly of the Death consumable.
- Uses a dark red light distinct from the normal Firefly.
- Guides the player toward their last remaining tomb.
- Normal Firefly and Firefly of the Death are mutually exclusive: only one firefly type remains active at a time.
- Reusing the currently active firefly refreshes/reapplies its effect.
- Configurable item recipe, stack size, weight, crafting station, crafting-station level, and duration.
- Configurable indoor/outdoor light intensity, range, shadow strength, and light color.
- Optional visible light source and flare.

The default light is intentionally red and dimmer than the normal Firefly.

Installation

Install Firefly of the Death through your mod manager. Required dependencies should be installed automatically.
Manual
- Install BepInExPack Valheim.
- Install Firefly by shudnal.
- Place the Firefly of the Death DLL in BepInEx/plugins.
- Launch Valheim once to generate the configuration file.

Configuration
The configuration is generated after the first launch. The mod exposes settings for:
- item stack size
- item weight
- crafting station and required level
- recipe
- effect duration
- light color
- indoor/outdoor intensity
- indoor/outdoor range
- indoor/outdoor shadow strength
- visible light point
- light flare
Compatibility
The mod intentionally integrates with the normal Firefly mod. Normal Firefly and Firefly of the Death are mutually exclusive so that only one follower effect is active at a time.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
