DynamicStorage Materials

Functional material storage that visibly grows as you fill it.

DynamicStorage Materials adds dedicated storage piles for many of Valheim's common crafting materials and resources.

Each pile acts as a real container restricted to its matching resource, while its appearance grows through visible fill stages as storage is used. Instead of another wall of chests, your stored materials can become part of your base.

Storage capacity is server-controlled, while the appearance and visual fill behaviour of each placed pile can be customised independently.

Dynamic Visual Filling

The core idea is simple:

Your material storage should visibly change as you fill it.

As more inventory slots are occupied, each pile progresses through its available visual stages while continuing to function as normal storage.

By default, every material pile uses:

  • Looks Full At: Match Storage Capacity
  • Server Capacity: 10 / 20 / 40 / 60 slots

Match Storage Capacity means the visual progression follows the pile's actual live inventory size. A 20-slot pile reaches its full configured visual when all 20 slots are occupied; a 40-slot pile scales the same visual progression across 40 occupied slots.

You can also override Looks Full At per material so a pile reaches its maximum visual at 10, 20, 40 or 60 occupied slots, or choose Always Full for a static full appearance.

Visual-fill behaviour is saved to each placed pile, so different piles of the same material can use different appearance settings while still obeying the server-selected storage capacity.

Other DynamicStorage Mods

Recommended: BepInEx ConfigDrawers

BepInEx ConfigDrawers by Vapok is not required, but is highly recommended if you want to dive into the customisation options in DynamicStorage Materials.

The mod contains a full appearance section for each supported material, and ConfigDrawers provides a much cleaner in-game interface for browsing and adjusting those settings.

It is particularly useful for:

  • Searching configuration options
  • Collapsing sections you are not currently using
  • Adjusting appearance values while in-game
  • Quickly finding the settings for a particular material pile

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
