ContinuousBuild
By Dedryx — version 1.0.0
Hold the placement button while building to continuously place pieces as you move through Valheim's snap points.
Features
- Hold left click to continue building at new valid snap positions; release to stop.
- Easier snapping while held, with a configurable capture distance.
- Improved Auto snapping that tries another nearby connection when the nearest choice overlaps.
- Duplicate protection and movement checks to prevent stationary placement spam.
- Uses vanilla placement requirements, material costs, stamina, durability, effects, and networking.
- Optional modifier key for players who prefer a two-button activation.
Usage
- Equip your hammer and select a building piece.
- Press and hold your normal configured placement input (left click by default). No modifier key is required.
- After the first normal successful placement, move the vanilla ghost to another valid snapped location to place another copy. Each repeat requires a change in your aim, position, or selected rotation since the last placement.
- Release the placement button to stop. After changing pieces/tools or opening a menu, start with another normal click.
A normal click still places one piece. While the placement button is down, snap capture expands from vanilla's 0.5 m to 1 m, making nearby snap points easier to acquire, including on the initial click. Releasing the button restores the normal capture distance. Building reach is unchanged. The mod uses the game's configured Attack / JoyPlace actions; it does not assume Mouse0. Continuous placement applies only to building pieces in build mode; attacking, repairing, and removing pieces are unaffected. To restore the old two-input behavior, set RequireModifier = true.
The optional modifier defaults to Left Alt: vanilla's default Left Shift / AltPlace disables snapping. Automatic placement pauses whenever vanilla does not accept a snap, including when you disable snapping. Manual placement remains available. ContinuousBuild does not override vanilla snap controls or introduce a grid/free-placement spacing system.
Easier Auto snapping
Vanilla Auto chooses its nearest snap pair before checking overlap. If that pair would overlap an existing piece, it gives up instead of trying another pair. While holding placement, ContinuousBuild now tries the next nearest available snap within the capture distance when the first choice overlaps or repeats a placement from this hold. It uses the existing piece snap points and vanilla nearest-point/overlap routines. Top, Bottom, and other named modes keep their existing selection behavior.
Set ImproveAutoSnapping = false to restore vanilla Auto selection. This fallback does not predict your intended building direction or bypass other placement restrictions; it may choose a different nearby connection in crowded builds.
Installation
Requires BepInExPack_Valheim (BepInEx 5).
- Gale: import the ZIP as a local mod or install it after publication.
- Mod Manager / r2modman: import the ZIP as a local mod or install it after publication.
- Manual: copy ContinuousBuild.dll into BepInEx/plugins/ContinuousBuild/ in the active Valheim installation or mod-manager profile.
When upgrading from a preview version, replace the old DLL and keep only one installed copy. Existing configuration is preserved; no config reset is required.
Client-Side Only
Client installation only; no server plugin or network protocol changes. Each placement uses vanilla's normal requirements, resource consumption, stamina, durability, effects, construction and networking path. Structural stability follows normal vanilla behavior, including pieces collapsing after placement.
Configuration
Generated on first launch at BepInEx/config/dedryx.continuousbuild.cfg.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
