CLLC Compatibility CrashFix (Valheim 1.0+)
Compatibility and Boss Spawn Crash Fix for CreatureLevelAndLootControl (CLLC) on Valheim 1.0+ (Ashlands and newer).
What This Fixes
- Boss Altar Summoning Crash (Fixed):
- In Valheim 1.0+, OfferingBowl.DelayedSpawnBoss shifted internal local variables (GameObject to slot 1, BaseAI to slot 2).
- Original CLLC hardcoded loading slot 1, mistakenly treating the boss's 3D GameObject as a Component/BaseAI, causing an immediate fatal engine crash (Access Violation in UnityPlayer.dll / GCHandle:GetTarget) the moment Eikthyr or any boss appeared.
- This package corrects the transpiler instruction to target slot 2 (BaseAI) and adds an upfront null-guard.
- All Prior Valheim 1.0.12 Compatibility Repairs:
- Updates sector APIs (ZDO.GetSector, ZoneSystem.GetZonePos).
- Fixes EffectList.Create (5-argument to 6-argument forwarding).
- Fixes Inventory.Changed and inventory crafting notifications.
- Fixes Minimap.noForest color field references.
- Fixes CookingStation.SpawnItem and Inventory.AddItem argument counts.
Requirements
- Smoothbrain-CreatureLevelAndLootControl-4.6.4
- denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim-5.4.2350 (or newer)
Installation
r2modman:
- Disable or uninstall older L4zerShark_Team-CLLCCompatibility if present (to avoid duplicate loaders).
- Install / Import this mod (CLLCCompatibility_Crashfixx).
- Ensure the original Smoothbrain-CreatureLevelAndLootControl remains installed and enabled.
- Launch modded Valheim!
Dedicated Server Manual Install:
- Extract the patchers/ folder into your server's BepInEx/ directory so the DLL resides at:
BepInEx/patchers/CLLCCompatibility_Crashfixx/CLLCCompatibility.dll
- Remove any old CreatureLevelControl.dll inside BepInEx/cache/ValheimThreeCompatibility/ so it rebuilds cleanly.
- Start the server normally.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
