Chuck Norse
Call Chuck Norse, Tenth Realm Ranger, down out of the sky. He follows you, fights beside you, and has opinions about the Tenth Realm. Only one of him can be out, and the call has a long cooldown.
A Valheim BepInEx 5 plugin built on Jotunn. Requires DFGHub for the shared board.
Features
- Ranger's Call, crafted at a workbench. The cast is the blood-magic troll summon. Chuck drops out of the sky.
- One at a time. A second call is refused while he is out, and the cooldown starts only when a summon actually goes off.
- He follows and fights. He is tamed to the summoner. The summoned troll's body is hidden; Chuck's own model rides on it, flaming sword in hand.
- He talks. A speech bubble over his head, on a timer, and he does not repeat a line until he has been through the list.
- A status card on the left while he is out: his mood, a timer, and his health. Hold Alt and drag the header to move it.
- Upgrades on the DFG board (Alt+T, Chuck Norse tab): Vigor, Might, Endurance, Readiness, and Fleetfoot, paid in coins and gated by rank.
- Lightning when he dies or his time runs out, borrowed from the Obliterator.
Requirements
- BepInExPack Valheim
- Jotunn (2.30.x)
- DFGHub
- Valheim 1.0.16+
Installation
- Install through your mod manager (recommended).
- Manual: place ChuckNorse.dll, ChuckN.glb, and the icons folder into BepInEx\plugins\ChuckNorse\.
How to Use
- Craft Ranger's Call at a level 2 workbench: 10 Fine Wood, 4 Troll Hide, 6 Leather Scraps, 100 Coins.
- Equip it and cast. Chuck falls in and follows you.
- Open the DFG board with Alt+T and pick the Chuck Norse tab to spend coins on his upgrades.
- Type chuck_ready in the F5 console to clear the cooldown.
Configuration
com.dfg.chucknorse.cfg
- Summon — cooldown, how long he stays, health, damage, height, the weapon he holds, and how often he talks.
- Crafting — the staff recipe and workbench level. A change here needs a restart.
- Upgrades — kills per rank, coin costs, and what each level adds.
- HUD — show or hide the status card, and where it sits. Hold Alt and drag the header; the position is saved.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
