Cartur's Cooking

More from the Cooking skill you already have. Food remembers who cooked it, and a better cook's food

fills you up more. From level 50 a meal can come out perfect - and a perfect meal makes you Happy.

Inspired by Smoothbrain's Cooking

(retired in 2026), by Smoothbrain and blaxxun-boop -

credit to them for the idea and the design. This is a separate mod written for Valheim 1.0.

What it does

Everything builds on the game's own Cooking skill. There is no second skill to grind, and the game's

own Cooking bonuses - faster cooking and the chance of an extra portion - are kept.

| | |

| --- | --- |

| Better food | Food carries the level of whoever cooked it. At 100 it gives 30% more health, stamina, health regen and eitr. Every level counts. |

| Perfect meals | From level 50 a meal can turn out perfect - the chance is your level minus 50, so 50% at 100. Eating one makes you Happy: 10% faster for 3 minutes. |

| Stacks | Food from different cooks stays in separate stacks - levels are rounded to steps of 5. |

| Kept on death | Cooking is not lowered when you die. |

| Experience | Taking food off a cooking station gives 5 Cooking experience; cauldron and oven meals give 5x the usual. |

The bonus shows on the food's tooltip, and survives logging out with it still in your belly.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
