Cacophony
Bring dynamic custom audio to Valheim! Cacophony provides a live creature sound management studio with an in-browser web interface. Assign custom.wav or.mp3 audio files to any creature's idle sounds and death effects without replacing vanilla assets or editing code.
A Valheim BepInEx 5 plugin built on Jotunn.
Features
- Live Web Studio: Open in any browser while Valheim is running to view, test, and assign sounds.
- Creature Discovery: Automatically detects all vanilla and modded creatures loaded in the world.
- Idle & Death Triggers: Attach custom sound effects to creature idle intervals (chances, delays) and death events.
- Tuning Controls: Adjust volume, min/max audible distance, random pitch variance (jitter), and concurrency limits.
- Zero Performance Impact: Hooks straight into Valheim's native EffectList data structures with no per-frame polling.
Requirements
- BepInExPack Valheim
- Jotunn (2.30.x)
- Valheim 1.0.16+

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
